Doing the SILENT dance! Shhhhhh!

It's been an interesting fall. We were zapped by the hurricanes, my husband has been in New Orleans off and on doing volunteer animal rescues, and I have been coordinating animal rescues and reunions, and home repairs since Katrina hit. Not an easy time for our 7-year-old twins.

The good news is that today we are doing the SILENT ten day dance!!!

Why silent? The kids won't know until we are in Orlando what we are up to. We will be getting them dressed for school and will be heading to the airport instead for some well-deserved family time (also our 20th wedding anniversary)

Any one who wants to join in, please do! Just don't tell the kids!!!

Oh, have sooo much fun. I know two families who have taken their kids away like that. It made for some awesome (and funny)memories. (my one friend picked her 1st daughter from school, already had warned the teacher, etc. The little girl was in library and was convinced she would get in trouble if she left so the Mom had to pick her up her screaming and crying daughter and physically carry her out of the school. The teachers and principals were on the floor laughing. Obviously she had a great time - she was just sooo confused.) My other friend did it like you - just got in the car from home and when they got to the airport they figured it out. Very excited kids!

I considered keeping it secret one year, even told my husband I was going to. Then one week after I bought the tickets, my daughter asked when we were going to Disney again and I just started jumping up and down and spilled the beans!

You're lucky I don't live near you - I am very bad about keeping a Disney secret! (lol)

I'm doin' the silent dance with ya!!!! We leave 21 days from today. DH and my 7 year old twins know that we're going on DCL, but they think that we're flying into Orlando 3 days early to bum around Port Canaveral. What they don't know is that I've booked us for 3 nights at WL with 2 day tickets and the dining package . I don't plan on telling any of them until we get to MCO and DH asks me which company I rented our car with! We've had a very hectic year and this is a much needed vacation.

Called and wrote the teachers today and they are in on the big secret now too. I think enlisting them in the fun (and telling them in a letter that they could throw something at me for having to prepare a work packet) has made them a happier about helping out.

Still betting that our 7-yr.-olds won't suspect a thing until we are on property....

Caved and bought the Fantasmic dinner package for our last night there. BTW, we've had no trouble getting ADRs and changing them around, even at this late date for those of you still debating.

But actually, I just wanted to thank you and your DH for the wonderful things you are doing for the animals down South. As you can see from my username, I have a special place in my heart for dogs (and cats!). I don't think I could ever leave my home and leave Shelby, our chocolate labbie, behind. She's a rescue to begin with.

Seeeevvvvvveennnnnn! Starting to worry...too many ADRs? Too many clothes (packed that is)? Husband going to return home from New Orleans in time?

Spent much of the day reading Unofficial Guide right in front of the kids . They never said a word , neither did the dogs! They are getting the rare treat of watching Mary Poppins up in our bedroom so I can check the boards...

I love this double-knot-super-top-secret preparation... The kids think I am whhhaacckkko for all the cleaning I am doing.
