Doing the parks etc WITHOUT a Magic Band

You have your physical credit card-like ticket scanned instead of a magicband.

Back in the day when it was just Photo Pass and there were no Magic Bands or Memory Makers, any PP photographer could give you a key fob card thing that you would register on the website to get any photos on it. You would try to use the same key fab/card whenever you had a Photopass picture taken because each card had to be registered. Inevitably, tho, we would come home with 3 or 4 PP cards.

I thought maybe they still did that for people without Magic Bands. But IDK because I get copies of any photos I want from my family’s Memory Makers.

OK - so in a different thread I asked about distinguishing like color bands (and got suggestions about decals from third party sources).

But the option of going band-less was brought up a couple times.

We're staying at the Dolphin, so the utility of the MagicBands is decidedly less.

So - if we decide on "no Bands" - what do we need?

Obviously, a physical ticket. We don't have that for everyone, but obviously could get that.

We're all set up in MDE and have fast passes. Here's are the questions then:

Can we use MDE to activate the FP and get on the ride? Or do we use the ticket?

And here's the wrinkle - most of us have a five day hopper. But two people have a left over 4 day hopper and a one day NON-MK ticket. The system links the FPs to a person, not a ticket. So not an issue? No matter which ticket was used, it woP for that attraction/time?

Side question - is it possible to do Disney without the MDE app? It seems like the answer is "not if you want a fast pass".

It just seems to me that the Magic Bands are worth the convenience, even though we have to purchase them. Ticket/FPs in one pretty hard to lose place.

You need to use the MDE app (or the Disney website on a computer) or the kiosks in the park to make your FPs. You can use your hard ticket to scan in at the rides to actually use your FP.

Tickets don't access ADR's. MDE does. ADR's are not tied to park tickets in any way.
Unless I'm misunderstanding what you are saying, I have to disagree. I use the credit card type ticket and I have it connected to MDE, so yes, I use them to get into the park, access my FP's and ADR's. I've done it. Maybe I just don't understand what you are saying.

ADR's are in your MDE. They are not connected to park tickets in any way. You can make ADR's without having park tickets, as many eateries are outside of the parks. You don't need any kind of ticket to make or access ADR's.

OK, I see what you are saying, they are listed and accessed (verified) through my MDE account but not required to get them or use them, so neither would the bands, right?

Correct. Magic Bands and the plastic credit card-type tickets are only needed for entrance to the parks and for fastpass (and room charging/room key if staying on site), not ADR's. :)
