Doing the opposite -- early hours opening

Hello!

We are trying something different this time around... we are picking DIFFERENT parks other than those open early for Disney guests on our last week of August trip.

Has anyone tried that strategy, or is there really a benefit of going to the early-open parks?

Thanks for sharing!

Almost every thread I read discusses staying away from the ee parks, but since I've never been I can't tell you how beneficial.

I've seen several people suggest going to the park the day after EE.

We will be avoiding EE parks like the plague, but we aren't staying on site either so we couldn't go in early.

Have a fun trip!

Extra Magic Hour is a benefit offered exclusively to those staying at Disney resort hotels. As such, you can expect very short or non-existent lines at attractions for that first hour.

That said, many resort guests choose not to take advantage of EMH. There are a variety of reasons: just don't want to get up that early, don't want to go to the park that has EMH on a given day, have breakfast plans, etc.

You can expect that the park with Extra Magic Hour will have some of the largest crowds by mid-morning. EMH draws a flood of guests early, and then the normal influx will occur throughout the day.

That said, the common approach to EMH is either get to an EMH park early and take advantage of the early entry, or pick another park for the day. The EMH park is likely to be the most crowded on any given day, meaning that you're better off picking another park if you aren't going to take advantage of early entry.

This is what we have done in the past many times.....
Go to the park with EMH, take advantage of the small crowds for the first couple hours. Then, "get the heck out of Dodge" so to speak:p
By around 11am that park will really start to fill up with off-site guests also. So we usually plan to head out by noon and go to another park.

I agree with Cindyfan - going to EMH early is the best way to get on the rides in that park you really want, then you can move on to another one and skip the crowd. I think that's great advice!

I always going to a given park the day after it has EE. It always works well for us.

We've never stayed onsite either so haven't taken advantage of EMH. We usually visit a park the day after EMH...seems to work for us.

I would still advise to get to the park for opening though and beat the crowds that arrive around 11sh!!

We will be at WDW in November. We are doing EE at MK on Sunday, it will be our first day. However, we are going to hop over to Epcot around lunch time. This is the only day we are doing EE. We are going to avoid EE parks on our other days.

I did the EE for the first time ever my last trip and will probably never do it again. Sure it's great for the first hour but very quickly the parks are packed. I don't like to go to EE just for 1 - 2 hours and then run over to another park so early.
By avoiding that park on the EE day you have a better chance of enjoying the whole day in the same park!

Very good point!
I think we are going to try it that way this time!!:D

Yup ~ thats my strategy... I keep away from the park that opens early. :)

I can't really say if it works or not ~ but the crowds were really light last August except for the Labour Day weekend - then it was nuts.

I am sticking with this strategy again this year except I made PS & Fantasmic plans for MGM and didn't realize it was a EE day... ooops
