It looks like I'll be getting a surprise trip for my birthday. :cool1: I'd like to start the day with a Bippity Boppity Boutique make over and wear my fairy wings all day. (Yes, I am over 30, not 3 :lmao:) Has anyone done the MK while wearing wings? I figure the ride wranglers must have some experience with little girls wearing wings. I'm assuming it would be a bit like the year we got a balloon: someone on the side of the ride (space mountain, splash mountain) balloon sat while we rode.

In general, adult COSTUMES are not permitted inside the parks (except for MNSSHParties.)

I don't know if just the wings are considered a costume or not.

How big are the wings? If they are very big, I would think they would be a PITA.
Would they bump other people while standing in line?

You may not be allowed to wear them anyway, so I would be prepared to take them off, if asked.

Unfortunately, the previous posters are right. I saw a woman dressed in a Tink outfit complete with wings turned away at the MK. Adults cannot wear costumes for the most part.

If it helps, I also saw a woman dressed like Minnie turned away. To me, she really didn't look like Minnie, but I guess they considered her outfit a costume.

WHY on Earth would you want to wear fairy wings??? :sad2:

Even my 6 y/o says that would be a pain to carry around. Think about the people around you in lines and just walking through stores or crowded areas. You'll be bumping everyone and knocking things off the shelves!

The PPs are correct- adults are not allowed to wear costumes in WDW. But why would you want to??

Leave the wings to the little girls and get yourself a birthday button.

I don't think there's any practical reason, but it sounds like a lot of fun to me. I'm trying to think of a good way to say this without sounding creepy or desperate, but I would definitely be attracted to someone who would wear fairy wings in the park like that. Of course I tend to like girls that are into crazy things like purple and pink hair and such:)

I say wear the wings and have fun and forget about what everyone else thinks.

Nobody complained when I wore my faerie outfit!?

Are they the thin kind that bend easily? You would probably be ok with those on rides (if you're allowed to wear them in the park). I haven't been to Disney with wings before but I've done a few halloween parties with wings. The floppy bendable ones are never a problem, but the solid one-piece kind that don't bend in the middle are horrible. People push them out of the way when they want to get by and you end up having to turn sideways. It's really annoying. I ended up standing against a wall for most of the night. :)

I would imagine that if the wings were purchased in MK at the BBB, then they would let you wear them in the park. I say wear them and enjoy them. If they get to be a PITA, then run them back to your resort at mid-day.

My daughter who is 8 years old was wearing wings with her tinkerbell costume in april. They were not very big but she was a little concerned about bumping in other people. For the rides, mots of the time, she would get her wings of and i would put them on my legs during the rides.
I have to add that even if it was a home-made costume and she was just a litlle 8 years old fairy and it was so cute to see kids stopping and saying ''look ..it is a fairy!!!''...i can imagine that it might be confusing...

oh!!!! Finally!!!! I posted a picture!!! All by myself !!!

Not if it is an adult wearing them though..We had a poster ( she was an adult)that went to DTD BBB and had a makeover with costume. She decided to go to a park, got to the turnstyle and was turned away. They simply do not allow adults to wear costumes in the parks UNLESS it is a party...like MNSSHP or the defunct Pirates and Princesses

As you've no doubt read here, an adult in any type of "costume" will be asked to leave that costume outside the parks. Even if all they are is wings that you're wearing with a regular t-shirt and shorts, you won't be allowed. It's one of those "we either have to let everyone or let no one" things -- and even though fairy wings in and of themselves are not a costume, per se, it's hard for Disney to draw the line. (Is it a costume if you add a wand? Is it a costume if you wear glittery make-up?)

The other problem is the rides. Remember that the queue lines are all pretty tight and some -- like PhilharMagic -- are VERY crowded. You're likely to run into a lot of circumstances where your wings would be smacking others in the face simply due to the close quarters. In some rides (think Small World or Pirates), the "wing span" may actually ruin someone else's view, particularly if there are kids behind you with wings in their way.

Restaurants, bathrooms, shops, even shows and the parade route, will require a lot of jockeying to be sure you're not poking or obstructing someone.

I think you may have a lot more fun and a lot less hassle if you go to one of the "design your own ears" locations and do a special pair of Mickey birthday ears and wear those all day instead. No problem on rides, no worries at shows or in shops, and Disney won't have any problems allowing you into the park in them!

Im sure im not the only one who things the whole where is the line for costume / not costume is really confusing!!

Surely just having some wings on is about the same level of 'costume' as Mickey Mouse Ears! :confused3

Not really. Because if you're wearing Mickey Mouse ears, you're one of hundreds of people in the park with them on. Kids know the difference between the real Mickey Mouse and a person wearing ears because Mickey is not a "face" character.

The fairies, on the other hand, ARE face characters. So it's not inconceivable that a grownup with fairy wings -- even if that grown-up is wearing shorts and a t-shirt -- might be seen by a small child as "a fairy on vacation." And if that grown-up is wearing special make-up and a special hairdo from BBB, along with maybe a wand, or any other sort of costume elements (even just a pink Tinkerbell t-shirt or pompoms on her shoes), then it becomes more costume-like.

It's actually BECAUSE the line is so fuzzy that Disney says no to all adults in costume pieces. You either say yes to everything or no to everything. Disney chooses "no." Their house ... their rules.

I don't think I would wear wings in the park but this princess will be buying and wearing a tiara :lmao:
