how much will it cost to wash a dry a load at Pop!

I'm fairly sure it was $1.50 . I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.
I divided the wash loads into 2 to dry. At every other resort, it had taken 2 cycles to dry, and this way I saved time. Worked great, since there wasn't others waiting to dry. Wouldn't have if there were others waiting.

This has been a curiosity for me for awhile....

It would never occur to me to do laundry while on vacation. Are those of you who do it ones who stay for 10+ days? I guess maybe because the longest we ever go on vacation is a week, I just pack what we need and do the laundry when we get home.

I always do laundry because for an 8/9 day trip, I only bring enough clothes for 4 days. I hate lugging all those clothes.

It's doesn't take that long to do laundry because the washers run 30mins and the dryer runs 30mins, and while I'm waiting I'm usually lounging poolside watching the kids swim.

Yes, it's $2 per wash and $2 per dryer but I usually only do a max of 2 loads so I just take a roll of quarters and I'm good for the trip.

TO answer the why do laundry question- We don't like to over pack. Even w/ 4-5 days of clothes, for our week long trip, it just seems like soooo much luggage. We usually go thru 2 outfits/day. Plus- i can't stand the dirty, sweaty, clothes sitting around the room.

For me its not a big deal since the laundry rooms are right next to the pools. Sometimes I do it at night after the parks while the kids swim and I get a few pool bar drinks in the process. Good thing I don't do this at home everytime I do laundry or I'd be up to about 15 Mai Tai's a week! Another reason is that I think Disney dirty clothes are the grossest! We go on other vacations and don't do laundry (partly due to the lack of convenient facilities at most other resorts/hotels) and it doesn't bother me. But man oh man the dirty clothes we manufacture at WDW are so nasty if I didn't wash them I'd be afraid they would not let our suitcases on the plane!

I agree with doing laundry on vacation - but it's just a personal preference. I find it easy to do while taking an afternoon break and swimming with the kids. I couldn't possibly pack enough clothes for a week as we also go through 2 outfits a day sometimes. It's a good idea to stop by the front desk for quarters or bring a roll or two - sometimes the change machines are out. I also saw something interesting at our local Target store just yesterday - small bottles of Tide (about 16 ounces it looked like - enough for a few loads) sealed shut so it wouldn't leak for 99 cents. I bought it at Goodings last week and yikes that place is expensive ( we were in a villa with a washer - sweet ). Enjoy your trip!

This is how we usually do it, but the last time we took a two-week vacation, it was only two of us (not the other two who still wear bibs at meals!). It'll be interesting to see if we end up doing laundry on this trip; our 7 nights at WDW is only about half the trip in total.

Then again, we *are* gong to WDW with my mother who literally doesn't know how to relax and hates anyone going with dirty laundry or un-ironed clothes, so I would not be surprised if she 'decides' to find the laundry room at CSR! (She insists on doing our laundry at home when she visits; if it's done already, she finds handwashing or ironing or out of season clothes to wash/sort!! Just her way of helping and showing she cares I guess)

I also do laundry while at Disney. Usually do it while my 3 yr old naps. Why? I have a 3 yr old on the trip!! LOL That's reason enough! There is no telling what she will get onto her clothes or mine for that matter. Also, we really try not to overpack. It is easier to do a load of clothes and have less luggage to pull around. Between the stroller and the suitcases, it can really add up. I've always found it easy to do the laundry while at Disney.

We had to do laundry last time we were there for a couple of reasons. One we were there for 9 nights/10 days. Not to bad but we also had visited family in Bama for the 4 days prior. I made sure to do laundry on our last day there.

2 - DS (8) at the time didn't tell us he had to go to the bathroom and peed his pants. YES my 8 year old peed his pants instead of mentioning he had to go to the bathroom. His reply "I forgot". Of course you don't want that around the hotel room for your stay

3 - DS (3) threw up. Must have hit a gag reflex or something, just happened once and he felt immediatly fine afterward.

Gosh, doesn't that sound like a fantastic vacation?? (Actually it was but with all that going on, I wonder why )

I'd rather wash clothes every evening than carry a bunch of luggage. If there is a convenient washer/dryer around, I use those, but otherwise I handwash the clothing in the sink.

It is just my husband and myself, but we can get away with very few little luggage. I take very light clothing (layer it if it gets cold), and sink wash everything we wear. Squeeze it dry in a towel and hang to dry. By the next morning I have all clean clothes again. I pack two outfits, so an extra is always dry. I do like to pack extra underwear and an extra t-shirt in case of wanting to change more than once a day.

I also agree with the comment above about not liking dirty laundry in the room. Another factor for me is that when I get home from a vacation I don't like to have piles of laundry needing to be done.

We do laundry because we travel with kids (teens actually), travel for 2 weeks (1 at the in-laws and 1 at Disney) and it cuts down on luggage.


Now - how do you all lug your laundry to the washer/dryers at the resort? Any creative ideas I haven't thought of yet? My laundry can get mighty heavy.

Nol - I have used my suitcase in the past if my laundry was more than I could fit in the mesh bag. Since the suitcase has wheels and the extension handle it was very easy to just pull it behind me. Was a life saver! HTH

All WDW washing machines takes quarters only. There are bill changing machines in each laundry room. There are also vending machines with detergent/softener if you forget to bring. Those costs $1 each and take quarters only too.

If you go to Walmart/Target there are pop-up hampers you can buy. You use it as your hamper then just carry it to the laundry room. Target has Tide travel size in a bottle (4 loads size) for 99cents, coupons accepted if you have one.

The easiest is to just get a couple rolls of quarters from the bank and put it in the hamper when you go. Then you won't have to fish for quarters or fiddle with the change machine. You never know when it's broken.

I know a few DISers whom LOVE to "DO THE LAUNDRY" (any place, any time!!), especially while on VACATION in WDW! LOL...especially my sweet friend paras4ri (Gail), she's the quinnesential "LAUNDRY QUEEN!" The things I LEARN on these boards?!
