Doing both Mickey's Halloween & Christmas parties?

I'd like to do both of these event and have a friend who's done both in one trip (did a week/half - to two week vacation) That's what we'd like to do also. It's been forever since we've been to Disney (2009) so it's like I'm starting all over again. LOL We jumped on the cruise scene for a while but now it's time to head back to the Mouse.

What are your to do/not to do tips for doing both parties?

We did both on back-to-back Fridays in 2012. The last MNSSHP was on Nov. 2, and the first MVMCP was on Nov. 9. We treated them like separate events. The only thing of note was that the MNSSHP was sold out of event merchandise. In retrospect, we would should tried harder to arrive for the 4 PM entry, but Nov. 2 was our arrival day, and on the 9th, we were meeting family back at the room before heading to the party, so coordinating everyone's movement's delayed our arrival at the park. It was great to do both on the same trip!
