Interesting article, however, I have to say, most Disney fans love the Disney take on Pooh and friends, rather than the original, classic AA Milne creations. I have to feel that the change would have been the same for the fans of the original artwork when Disney came along withtheir bright colours and comedy voices.
I am sure that there is a big enough market for the current Pooh merchandise etc for it to remain on the shelves, so wouldn't panic just yet.

Incidentally, have you seen the Book of Pooh on the Disney Channel ? This seems like a step in a similar direction and I reckon it is an excellent step forwards with the "product" and characters.
...............and I don't even have kids.........I am not supposed to know about stuff like Book of Pooh !! LOL

I personally never liked most of the Pooh merchandises marketed by US Disney. The styles just seems too boring, uncreative, and way too common. fiancee loves pooh but we're very picky as to what kind of pooh merchandise to get. Recent Cutie Pooh line are adorable and we find that to be cute to collect. Classical pooh, without his red shirt, are always great and feels more valuable to collect.

but the best Pooh items we've seen and often buy are Disney Japan's collections. We find it's far more artistic and cute with sense of class to it. most of them are just so much cuter than the usual pooh merchandise we find here. and they actualy care about marketing the side characters!!!! like they'll often include kanga, roo, gopher into the big 'picture.. I don't recall seeing their merchandise until recent couple of years here.
