My wonderful MIL bought us a disney time share last year...I know how lucky are we. On the contract is my husbands sisters names as well (they have already said they have no interest in using the points but this could change in the future). We pay the maintenence fees bc we are the ones using the points. My question is...

When they start selling Kingdom Towers, my hubby and I want to buy 100-150 points with just our names on the deed. This way we will always have some of our "own" points that we can use if someone else uses the other points. To do this, we have to have a separate contract which means another member number. Would you do this or would you just add on the other contract with everyones names on it ? Does this make sense?

My hubby just wants to do an add on....but then again these are his sisters. Just curious what you all would do.
Thanks

I would do a contract just in your own name. I am one that worries about the what if... what if there is a divorce, death or a falling out with the family or the in-laws--have seen it happen and been there in other types of things. Would just like to know when things happen I might have some contro. Could save a lot of trouble later on.

AFAIK, any add on has to be titled the same way as the original deed. You can't have differently deeded contracts under the same membership number.

Since you are looking at 100 to 150 points anyway, why not just get a brand new membership at CRV, assuming the minimum will still be 160 ponts for a new membership?

Another option would be to re-title your current membership into your names only. It would require filing a new deed and getting a ROFR waiver, and any financing would need to be paid in full.

I too am of the "what if" philosophy. My husband is of the "everything will be fine" philosophy. I am leaning toward a whole new contract. I just didn't know how difficult it would be to combine the two separate member #'s for trips and all. Thanks for the input.:flower3:

if ANY of those on the deed have financial problems, divorce, etc; DVC would be included in their assets. Given you're looking at up to 150, I'd buy 160 and get it in your name and let them resume responsibility for the contract in their name. Or I'd change the title to your name if you can swing it.
