Doing a park on your depature day - too hectic?

We would have to go to the airport by 2:30, so I assume we'd have to leave Disney by at the latest 2:00 but probably 1:30-1:45 giving low shuttles... We also are doing Magical Express so I have no idea about that.

Anyhow, would the morning hours be too hectic to revisit a park ? On our arrival day we are going to MGM (probably won't get there until 2:30) and if we need to revisit it again(even though I've heard we should get it all done), we could do this on our depature day... we'll be using the disney buses from CBR. Do a lot of people visit a park on the day they leave?

poor mgm stuck on arrival and depature days... :guilty:

We have done parks on the departure day, but only to do one or two things (like to ride Rock n Rollercoaster one last time). I wouldn't leave something you really wanted to do until the last minute, you'll only get frustrated and depressed if you can't do it because of crowds, etc...

We usually go to Downtown Disney, have lunch and then head to the airport from there.

We rent a car so it makes zipping around alot easier, I'm not sure how the buses run, but you should definitely take that into consideration.

Have a great trip!

You can go to a park on your departure day but you need to be there early AND you need to go to a park OTHER than MK. MK is just too hard to get in and out of whereas you can spend that time at Epcot or we like to do MGM since we feel that we're closer to the park from the parking lot.

It depends on which admission tickets you've purchased. If you have AP's or length of stay tickets, then go to the park. If you only are staying a few days and have paid $40 or more per day, I'd say skip it. Sleep late and have a really good breakfast at one of the hotels and then go to Downtown Disney for some shopping.

You probably do a few things in a park, but it really is going to depend on what time the shuttle will be picking you up. Just to give you can idea, in the past for us, our plane leaves orlando at 5:15 and the shuttle had a pick up time of 1:30. They want to have you at the airport 2 to 3 hours early. I hope this helps you a bit. Have a great trip. :flower:

We always end our trip with a character breakfast and to the park of ds4 choice--it will always be AK. But, of course, we drive so we aren't pushed to get out. If you are going to do it, I think as long as you avoid MK or a park with EMH and don't plan on doing too much, you'll be fine.

My sister gets up at the crack of dawn to do a park on departure day, but it's too rushed for me. I like to do a character breakfast and a little shopping at DTD the last day. This trip we are doing Chef Mickey's (nice view of the castle for the last day) and then heading over to DTD, thinking about doing a little Disney Quest since it isn't crowded during the day, but not sure, we're going to play that by ear.

My plan is to do KTTK Tour at MK on my last day (a Sunday) because my flight is at 7:50pm. I thought that would be the best way to spend my last day at WDW. Im excited!

I've gone to a park, even the MK, every departure day. I always have a flight out sometime after 4Pm. I pick the few big attractions I just feel I didn't get my fill of and try to leave with the best memory and farewell possible.

Get up very early and go for one last experience...just be careful with your time. I'm planning on cabbing it back to the airport versus taking a mears or similar shuttle this year. Those shuttles just take too long and they make you get on the bus 3 hours in advanced. I hate that. I even rented a car for the first 2 days just to avoid the Mears debacle completely.

How much is it for a cab to the airport? I'm going to be alone getting to and from the airport

We use to have a mid to late afternoon flight and would ride RnRC and ToT a few times before leaving. :goodvibes

I'll take the 'yes, too hectic' side... we prefer to have a 'lazy' morning, not be crazy rushed to have everything packed (incl. separate flying clothes since we are heading north) and run out the doors to the parks. Instead, we just have a leisurely breakfast and maybe head to DTD and grab lunch... last minute postcards, shopping, etc.

For me, vacation does not include making my last day more stressful, since there's already enough stress with flights, small children, getting home in one piece.... I hate constantly checking my watch, "can we do this ? do we have time or will it be too rushed? etc."

good luck whatever you decide :)

We did this during the slow season. Our flight home was 3ish. We hadn't planned to do AK and we had never been there so we got there at opening and hit a few highlights(Safari,Kali,ITTBAB) and just added an extra 30 mins. to our schedule for delays. It worked out fine as long as you aren't planning to cover a whole park! Good luck! Hope you have a wonderful vacation! :)

I wondered the same thing and decided to skip the park and hit Downtown Disney. We had the dining plan and still had 5 table meals left! (we were only there for 2 days, and shared the meals due to Dh's weight loss surgery)

We grabbed lunch at Cap N' Jacks and also had them package to go 2 salads and a roast beef sandwhich. We ate lunch and then took the food with us. It ended up being dinner on the plane.

Everyone agreed that it would have been a waste of money to try and fit some rides in.

Disney's Magical Express will pick you up exactly 2 and three-quarter hours before your flight departure. I read this exact information on several of the popular Disney websites. So for example if your flight leaves at 3:45 p.m., Disney's Magical Express is picking you up at your resort at 1:00 p.m. :hourglass

If I recall correctly, a cab is roughly $40.00. A one way trip from Tiffany Towncars is $55.00.

We also do a Park every day of our trip, including arrival & departure days. This coming trip in April, we will most likey be skipping a Park day on our last day as we have to leave the resort at noon & have a breakfast/brunch PS at 10:45. It's going to be very strange not getting that last couple hours of Park time.......
