Hi Everyone,
Every year we go to Disney World, but this year we want to go to Universal Studios. BUT, I know that we'll feel miserable if we can't see something that has to do with Disney, so we're going to go to DownTown Disney for a day. Is the only way from a Universal Resort to Down Town Disney by taxi? Do the Disney Resorts have Christmas decorations up in November? Also, can we get on a Disney Resort bus from DTD to go to that resort without any problem since we aren't staying at a Disney Resort?

Christmas decorations go up on either Thanksgiving Day or the day after -- I don't recall which. I'm sure someone else knows. But before Thanksgiving -- no, you won't see Christmas decorations.

Sorry, but there are a lot of Christmas decorations up in November, before Thanksgiving. In fact, a few years ago, when we checked out of POR on a Sunday morning, we found that the Christmas elves had visited the resort overnight. There was a huge Christmas tree in the lobby, as well as garland all over the place. I believe it was the end of the first week in Nov.
There are holiday decorations all over the place by the second week in Nov. It's not as extensive as you will see by Thanksgiving, but you will find some.

I would check and see if the Universal Resort you are staying at has buses to the Disney parks. If it does, you could take that bus to one of the parks, then hop on a bus to DD. You can catch a bus at DD to any of the resorts, but you can't get a bus from DD to the parks. That means you would have to take a bus from DD to a resort, and then another bus from the resort to the park where you could board a bus from your Universal Resort. Disney started this a few years ago to prevent people staying off site coming to DD, parking for free, and using the transportation system to go to the parks. If you aren't in a rush to get somewhere, you can do this.

Disney does not check for ID to make sure you are a resort guest. (In fact, you don't have to be one to use the transportation system.) Hope this makes sense.
