Doin' the single digit/I think we made the height requirement dance!

Woo Hoo!!! Only 9 more days to go! I measured ds this morning and he was at 41 inches with loafers (not a thick sole at all!) I know this doesn't gaurantee that he'll make it down there; but I feel better about it! The kid grew almost 2 inches in a month!

My DS was 40.5 inches with his regular shoes when we went, and he was allowed on everything he wanted.

My dd is measuring a tad over 40 inches with her regular sneakers on, does anyone think she will have a problem? Do they measure once or at every ride? She is so looking forward to BTMRR and SM, I dread to think about her face if she can't go on and her big brother can Tonia

they measure at every ride. Sometimes twice, once when you first get in line and once as you are about to get on the ride. Some CM's were so sure my son was too short that they wacked him in the head with the measuring device (an upside-down L) cause they thought it would go right over. If it does not go right over the child's head they are OK.

Has anyone had any experience with the measuring devices not being consistant from ride to ride? I've heard some people say that their children were tall enough for BTMRR and then told at SplM that they weren't tall enough. I've also heard that the sticks are more like 41" or 42" at some rides. This makes me nervous! DS might chicken out of Thunder Mountain or Splash Mountain; but he'll love Test Track and Star Tours. We'll be traveling with a family that has a 5 yo. I'm really hoping ds passes the measuring tests so that we can avoid tears and frustration! (even though we've tried to prepare him for this!)

I completely understand that height requirement celebration!! My DD5 (4 at the time), aka Danger Girl, made it onto BTMRR back in Jan....Splash was down, and the bar just grazed over her head and they wouldn't let her on Space. There were tears....but they didn't last long because we literally RAN all the way over to BTMRR for one last ride and that cheered her up! So make sure you have a "just in case plan". In Nov she was tall enough and absolutely LOVED both Space and Splash.

My DD3 begged to ride BTMRR and she was tall enough and screamed bloody murder the whole way....she wouldn't ride Dumbo later. I hope I haven't damaged her....then she'll need counseling as an adult!!!!

So how did the measuring sticks compare to what you thought your child measured? Did you find it to be consistant - your child was just over 40 inches and the stick was just a bit shorter than them, or did you feel they measured high? I just want to prepare my dd, she is definately over 40, but she is closer to 40 than 41.

dmonroe, have a wonderful trip! I stayed at the Board Walk Inn in 2000, and I loved that resort! It's beautiful and very relaxed!

My son was exactly 40 inches and we had no problem with the measuring sticks anywhere. They seemed to be right on the money. He loved BTMRR and Splash!

I felt like they were pretty close. Katelyn is a good 45-46 inches so she cleared the Space mtn one easily. Jennifer is right at 40 1/2" and the BTMRR just barely bumped her head so I guess they're close.

Like I mentioned before, definitely have a backup plan...where if they aren't able to get on they get to pick their favorite ride for next...no matter where it is...or they get to pick the next two rides, or get their favorite treat.....something like that.

We had trouble two years ago at splash and at dinasour (in hindsite a good thing!). My then 4yo dd was 40" barefoot so we assumed there would be no problem in sneakers. She hit the mark no problem at BTMR and LOVED it. Then she had to be measured a few times at Splash - be careful here as the ground is not level. She was short the first time so I calmly explained that she was just 40" at the doctors and at BTMR. The CM moved onto more level ground and DD again hit the mark. Be prepared to be measured at least twice every ride, its not a problem at boarding however as its level ground. It got to be a "badge of honor" for dd to have them "come at her with the stick" and then say "ok honey your all set".

I don't know what the deal was with dinasour as the measuring stick is permanent but she didn't even come close, different day same shoes! She did make it the next trip, about 6 mos later and liked the ride but I think it would have been to much for her anyway the first time. This trip she is just barely 44" and has been waiting patiently to be tall enough for space - could be the trip but we are prepared to wait if not.

If your son is 41" barefoot you should be fine, just be patient and make sure the CM is measuring on level ground and holding the stick level. Have a great time, fwiw - I would start with the barnstormer (if you haven't already done it), then BTMR and finally Splash Mountain.

He had been stuck at 39" for the longest time. He actually grew another inch in the last 5 days! I had a feeling he was about to hit a growth spurt, since he started taking 4 hour naps a few days ago and has been really hungry. Maybe we can eek a few more centimeters out of him over the next few days.

when we attended mnsshp dd was allowed to ride btmrr and splash over and over. The next day she was fine on splash and to short for btmrr. She cried,howled it was a horrible scene. we eventually calmed her down and she got over it.

Hope noone else runs into this.

I am doing the same dance...... but I leave one day before you

The only new ride we will be taking DD on is Splash mountian...... since I can ride with her....... (she does better on new rides with me.....) I will chance going on Splash mountian preggers, but not BTMRR! LOL

Plus I think BTMRR has a few too many tottaly dark spots for her...... But we will see........ she is our daredevil.......

I just measured my DS this morning and he was at 41 1/2 inches barefoot so I really hope he will be able to do the rides he was too small for last time we went, his big brother and sister are allowed on everything so it just breaks his heart when he can't get on as well. I have my fingers crossed........

How tall was he when he couldn't go on? My dd is BArely 40 inches (without shoes), I'm really hoping she will be able to go....

Some rides have a 40 inch height requirement. If your dd is 40 inches without shoes, she should be ok for those rides. I'm still a little concerned about ds, because I've heard of people's kids being able to ride some rides and not being able to ride others even though they all had the same height requirements. Like maybe the measuring devices aren't consistant from ride to ride.
