Dogs Visiting Disney World

I will be staying at Disney World (All-Star Sports) and my parents may be driving through Orlando. Unfortunately, they will have their dog with them. I know dogs are allowed only at certain resorts for Guests, but what if it is a visitor passing through? Could we meet my parents in the parking lot and stay outside with their dog for a bit?

We aren't looking to break any rules, and won't bring the dog to parks/Disney Springs.

I don't know if this is do-able but what about meeting at the McDonalds that is right down the street from Sports. They have outdoor seating that you can probably sit at and visit, have some lunch or snacks.
