Doggy-bag etiquette

When I get dessert I really don't want to eat so much cake etc at one time especially if it is a late ADR the sugar will keep me up all night. I have asked for a take out box with my dessert and I cut it in half when I get it and box half. No problem.

Last Sept we were at Epcot and had a dinner ressie for Chef de France. We went on Test Track maybe like an hour before and our daughter threw up right after she got off the ride. I think she just had too many sweets and then the ride just gave her an upset stomach. Well, we cleaned her up and she said she felt ok so we headed over to France.

Checked in and got seated and as soon as we sat down she said she was really tired and her belly was sore so she climbed on my lap and fell asleep. This is really unlike her so I start worrying about her throwing up again and we decide to just leave.

Well, we had already put in our order and got our drinks so we asked told our waiter what was going on and asked if they could pack our food up for us to take back to the resort. I thought I could just take DD outside and wait for DH. The waiter said he had to check with the manager and the manager came back and said that they aren't a "to-go" restaurant and we would not be able to take our food with us. They cancelled the order and didn't charge us for the drinks.

At that point, I was worried about her throwing up in the middle of the place and just wanted out of there so I didn't argue with them. But thinking about it later I got mad about it because really, would it have been that big of deal?!?

Chef's is horrible for customer service. Disney doesn't do to go, but they will do doggy bags. In your circumstances, they should have understood what was going on.

I agree that the challenge is finding time to eat your "to go" food and the bother associated with hauling it around- especially on the Deluxe Plan where there seems to be endless food. If you are looking at eating lots of small meals regularly (pregnant) or eating a strange times - or if the food is really good, it might be worth it - but we seldom find packing up leftovers at Disney to be worth the bother. But there is certainly no shame in asking! And if you decide to toss it later, that isn't a problem either.
