Hi!

We’re going on our first Disney cruise in about 2 weeks!! I’ve booked a few excursions for our family, including the helicopter/dog sled excursion on our first stop in Ketchikan. And I purposely did this on our first stop because I read a lot of posts that it could get cancelled due to bad weather at times. In the event it does get cancelled, wed really like to try to do the excursion on our next stop in Juneau. Does anyone have recommendations about the best way to make arrangements once we were to find out our Ketchikan one is cancelled? Just trying to prepare....thanks!

I booked all my excursions with DCL. When the Skagway dogsledding excursion got cancelled a week before we left, I was able to book the one in Juneau online right away using the DCL site. Last August I was on the Fantasy. We had to change itinerary due to weather. I didn’t book with DCL this time because what I wanted was not offered by DCL. The hassle and stress I had to go through to change the excursion dates and times via emails were too much to handle. I would book with DCL from now on especially when weather is likely to play a big role in certain times of the year.

you're just like me! I did the same thing. you're right -it's the #1 canceled excursion. it's also one of these most popular excursions. First port - we booked with Tesco directly. so just in case it was canceled we could try to rebook in next port. I think i did it with tesco because it must have been them to offer the same tour in the 2nd port. Sure enough - our excursion was canceled due to morning fog. we were told to 'stand by' and they were able to rebook us in the afternoon. Phew! But my back up plan was to call ahead to the next port and re-book there. hope it works out for you!

We booked with DCL and I purposely booked the 2:30PM departure. I knew about the fog. Every other departure was cancelled except the 2:30PM.
It was clear and we had a great time. Best excursion ever and our first helicopter ride. Our lead dog was named Lucy, my MIL's name. We
had fun.

Thanks everyone! Looks like I’m too late on trying to book through DCL and I’m checking with Temsco right now. The other challenge is that I did book another smaller excursion in Juneau (gold panning) and the cancellation policies. I’m leaning toward cancelling the gold panning (but it’s already full if I wanted to try to reschedule depending on the dog sled if that makes sense)...

We have had a port canceled (too rough for tendering) and an excursion called off (too much rain in the mountains) on two separate cruises. In the first case, DCL was prepared (they seem to always be ready for any situation) and booked a new port for the next day (just switched "at sea" days), put together about a dozen excursions and got the word out to everyone on the Magic in about three hours. With the excursion, it was called so late we did not find an alternative we wanted so we just visited a dock-side old fort for a few hours. The excursion desk is your go-to place for any changes. They are great and often offer unique scavenger hunts for longer cruises during "at sea" days. Sometimes you have to ask for a bit of pixie dust...Tink isn't always around to spread it.

Our first Alaskan cruise, this was the number one thing we wanted to do but we only booked it for Juneau and it got cancelled. We had a good time eating crab legs at Tracy's Crab Shack though.

For our second Alaskan cruise, we booked it through DCL for Juneau and Ketchican. We kept an eye on the weather leading up to the cruise and rolled the dice on Juneau since the weather looked the best and cancelled the other on the last possible day. The weather was perfect in Juneau but when we got to the heliport, the town had a brief power outage so our takeoff was slightly delayed. We finally got up there and it was the most amazing excursion I've ever done:
