Well,I bought all the gates, stanchions and the jumps. We now have our own obedience ring right in the back yard!!! What a difference it makes when you can practice everyday! The dog is doing wicked good!! The only thing she's having a little problem with is the drop on recall.(love some feedback from anyone who might have a remedy) She still creeps a little. Hopefully she'll work it out by 10/9,I entered her in the Bangor show!!!! CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!

Very cool! Where did you learn how to train her to do this?

Not totally obiedient yet but she's only about 10 months old. We really want to set up some agility stuff for her. She loves to jump, but will only jump if she wants to. If we put it in her path she'll go around it.
I have to say that I have had at least 12 dogs in my 32 years and she is THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!!! She is just so cool and funny. She really thinks she is one of my kids. I love the way she backs up and sits on my feet. I'll never not own a Dobie. My kids are all planning to get their own when they move out (they are 12,9,&6:D ).

Was it hard to train your Dobie? Ours is very eager to please, but we don't know where to start. By the way ours is a natural ear. I'm going to try to post a picture.

Cabmom--I've been training my dog for obedience competition for
2 years. She is working on her 2nd title,Open A,where she must broadjump @ 56" and retrieve a dumbell over a 28" jump. There's a whole bunch of fun things we do all off lead and no talking or touching my dog in the ring while the judge gives commands. Its wicked fun.....and a lot of training!

kimbac3---Hey! Another Dobie person!!!! 10 months is the perfect age to start ! First, find yourself a training club that teaches basic obedience. Agility training is great, but you'll need to teach your dog to pay attention. That's why obedience training is important.
Where do you live? PM me if you want . I'll find you a training club.
Be prepared to spend a lot of time and money!
