So, within about half an hour last week we 1) Found out the we were approved to adopt this amazingly awesome dog through a great local rescue. 2) Told DS (who has been very specific that this is the dog he wants) that we would be adopting this dog -- something he's been asking for for years and years and 3) Found out that the house that we're supposed to move into on Thursday is full of mold, which my DS is allergic to. Our current home does not allow pets.
Yes, I know I'm stupid and that we should never have gone to Petco to look at pets until we were moved in. Too late.
So, I went into crazy househunting mold and found another house. It's got everything I promised the rescue people (fenced yard, air conditioning, safe neighborhood etc . . . ) except the fence I described as "3 1/2 feet tall chain link" is now "8 feet tall wooden privacy" and I think I mentioned a basement the dog could spend time in when we're not home -- we no longer have a basement but we have a family room which will work.
We're now moving Wednesday instead of Thursday.
So, do I call the rescue now and reapply for a new house.
Not say anything and when I go pick up the dog at the foster mom's house just write the new address which doesn't match the old one.
Not tell them at all, until they call and check (which I assume they will
They knew we were moving -- they just think we're moving to a different house than we actually are. They waived the homevisit requirement because we were moving.
I think I'm being paranoid -- if they trusted me before they'll trust me now right?
