I just finished this book and OMG I was emotionally spent. It so mirrored the struggles with my own dog. I guess I read books like this to know that I did the right thing putting my dog down when we did and to also know that I am not the only one who still cries when I think of him.

I read the book and cried like a baby. I love my dogs and it's a struggle to do the right thing when it's time

I am a dog lover, have three of my own and one foster dog right now. I can't even watch sad movies with dogs (Marley and Me) so I don't think I could get through this book.
But thanks for the recommendation because when the time comes it might be a good book to help me through it.

I also read this book and was sobbing over it. It was especially moving because Mark Levin is such a tough guy on the radio, but look how a dog can melt his heart. I love how at the end of his radio program every night, he says "good night, Spritey". It's a good book, but have the Kleenex handy.

Have you all read The ART of Racing in the Rain? While it is fiction if you are dog lover you will not put it down(ignore the racing parts if you hate racing which I do)

I was just going to reccommend this one. I have not read Rescuing Sprite, but I will have to keep an eye out for it. I'm working on The Art of Racing in the Rain right now and LOVE it. I hate racing as well, but I think it fits into the story so perfectly. Wonderful book.

I'm almost fisnished resding my current book, and this one sounds like my next!

A Dog Named Christmas is also a really cute one! (happy ending with tears of joy, not sadness!)

I could use one of those! My husband asked me what my favorite book was and I had to say Racing in the Rain. It was a book I would have never picked up if it were not for the cute dog on the cover. I read the first page in Costco and was hooked. Of course I started crying on the first page too!
