Hi all! I'm going to WDW in May, once I get back I will be getting a puppy. Either a Lab or Golden. (Already thinking of Disney names! Aurora and Walt are my winners so far!) But anyway, I wanted to get some stuff for the new pup while I'm there. I know they have food bowls. But what else do they have? Do they have ID tags by any chance? Leashes and collars would be good too if they have them. Any one know where I can find any of this stuff in the parks? And what kind of stuff do they have? Might want to get a few toys too. Thanks!

Congratulations on your new addition (in advance). A few years ago Disney had a store at DTD that was dedicated to pets and you could find bowls, leashes, toys, bandanas, treats, etc. there. This has gone away to a single wall in the store. In World of Disney they used to have a section for pets, no more. Just a few select items. With the new kennel Disney put on property, you would think they realize how important pets are to their owners and that they would like to bring home a piece of the magic to their fur babies. My last two visits I have not gotten my two Princesses any items from Disney. They still have their Princess bowl for water and a new set of tennis balls with Disney characters imprinted on them. I'm hesitant to open it for some reason:sad2:, as if that's the last of their new Disney toys?? With Disney bringing back resort specific merchandise, maybe a few pet items will be next?? I'm not asking for a huge selection, just a few items!

Sometimes you can find disney items in places like walmart. On our last trip 2 weeks ago, my kids made a dog ID tag on the boardwalk in the shape of a Mickey head (our dog's name is Mickey).

You could also try the Disney store online

They've pretty much discontinued all pet merchandise. The only thing we've seen lately are the engraving machines where you could get an ID tag for your new puppy. We saw the machines in quite a few locations, although right now the only ones I can think of are near the gift shop in The Seas with Nemo and in The Land Pavillion near the escalator by the Garden Grill. Some people have said they buy the character placemats and bowls for their pets.

you won't find much pet merchandise in WDW. we did see a few pet items (which we had already) in the DTD store mentioned, as well as at the disney outlet near WDW.
however, you can buy a beach towel to dry puppy after a bath, placemat & bowls, etc, with characters that fit your new baby & their name.

almost all of our pets have/had disney names (tho often people don't realize it:)): our goldens were thumper (she had a hip replacement early in life so hopped a bit, and had the golden tail "thump"), kovu (lion king), and currently toby (the great mouse detective).
our cats include(d) kiara (kovu's GF), boo (monsters), jack (as in sparrow - he only has one eye, like a pirate pirate:), bean (muppets).

enjoy your new baby! :)

Haha that's so cute! Right now i have a few names in mind. Gaston would be a cute name I think haha. But it kinda stinks they dont have much! Youd think Disney would! Guess I'll have to keep a sharp eye out and make sure to get some tennis balls haha

sadly as Nikki (moderator) said line discontinued So foolish on their part as far as I'm concerned too Have had alot of luck on eBay though so could look there

watch out for regular tennis balls tho - many puppies (especially retrievers) can and will rip a tennis ball apart in minutes. they can quickly become choking hazards.

i really like the name "gaston" but you might want to meet the pup first. none of our furbabies were named until we knew their personality (e.g. pup kovu & kitty kiara were very close, playing, eating and sleeping together. when kovu passed from spinal cancer at just 5 years old, kiara was utterly heartbroken without her buddy, and passed away a few weeks later with no medical symptoms/explanation:sad1:).
keep us updated when you get your new baby:)

Aw:( As for names, I'm just thinking of possible Disney names that won't seem weird for a dog haha. What i want will probably change 50 times once I know what puppy im getting haha. And you can be sure I'll post pictures once i get it!

As of last January there was also an engraving machine in the Pin Traders kiosk at DD. All our cats have an ID tag from Disney. We figured they needed Disney tags to go with their Disney names {Prince John, Thomasina, Jasmine and Eugene Stitch}

I got my dogs their stuffed princess (Jasmine and Belle are my puppies names). I just cut off any piece that could be a choking hazard since my puppies love to destroy. I was really sad though that I couldn't get them any clothes like I could at Universal.

Hi Has anyone used the dog kennels in Disney world. I have a reservation for my dog. I understand they are located across from Port Orleans riverside hotel. Has anyone have any opinions of the kennels and can I trust that my dog will be treated well during our stay at disney?::MinnieMo::MinnieMo

Hi there. My dog has stayed a few times at Best Friends (the kennel inside Disney property). She stayed overnight a couple nights (one night at a time) and went to daycare a few times also. They have longer hours than our place so it's saved her having to spend an extra night if I'm coming back from out of town late which is a bonus.

Mine goes to doggie daycare regularly (on the other side of town) so she's used to being around lots of dogs but even she was a little overwhelmed at Best Friends. They have a lot of dogs coming in and out. She was safe and they took care of her but don't expect your furbaby to get any extra attention without paying for it.

I believe they get two potty breaks per boarding night and if you want more it costs extra. Play time, cuddle time, etc. all costs extra. Also due to so many dogs from all over and hygiene, you cannot bring a bed for your pet. They provide bedding but you can send a toy even a plushy one.

Overall, they do a good job considering the volume and the staff I have interacted with were all friendly. I would take my dog here again but it's not someplace where pups get a lot of extra attention.

Hope that helps.
