I'm a multiple dog owner, and have kept many of our previous pets alive well into their second decade, and would seriously suggest you ask yourself, and your vet, what can be done conservatively. Liver numbers can be indicative of a number of things, and I would most definitely not consider a multi thousand dollar ortho surgery until you know the prognosis on the liver. Remember, the dog is looking to you to keep it *comfortable*, whether that's for a short or long while to come. I agree with the others above: severe restriction of exercise, glucosamine, and bone strengthening foods. And lots of hugs
