Or ignore you, or just about run you over with their cart! The last was the way it was in Wal-Mart today. I HATE going to that store, but I picked up goodies for my overseas guy. I told Richard I think we should have one section of the USA to put all the rude people in one place.
Yes, a lot. If they want the store to themselves they should go at midnight.
I was once walking down an aisle and there was a rather tall teenage boy blocking my way, I said 'excuse me please' very nicely just like I've been taught and wehn I got about 4 steps past him that little brat said "You should have gone down a different aisle."
I was shocked, that boy had apparently a) never been taught any manners and b) never taught to respect his elders (not that I'm very old, but definitely older than him).
I'm guessing that that teeneage boy's parents have a bumper sticker that says
"My kid's a PUNK and I taught him everything I know!".
I hate the teenagers at our grocery store down the road. All they do is talk and talk and talk...to each other. They load your bags to capacity because they're so oblivious as to what they are doing because they are talking so much.
People who block aisles don't have a chance with me. If I either stand and wait for them to move their cart themselves when they see me wanting to go through or if I say excuse me and they still do nothing, I take they're cart and give it a good shove out of my way.
Some little Spring Breaker went flying by DS with one of those grocery baskets at Publix today. She hit him on the arm and kept on going.
He's standing there holding his arm and "ouching". She didn't even slow down.
He did get his apology after I caught up with her in the produce department, though.
1) When people stop DEAD in the middle of the aisle, not realizing you are steps behind them, then you run into them with your cart and all they can do is glare at you.
2) When people stand in a looooooooong line, with plenty of time to look for coupons, their checkbook, etc., but wait until the last possible second to get all this out - like after the cashier has already rung them up.
3) When people berate the cashier about the price of food, or some other probem that is clearly not the cashier's fault.
4) And this one goes without saying, when people have 16 or more items in the 15 items or less line!
Have I mentioned how much I hate going to the grocery store?
Yes! Yes! Yes! I assume that they see that the store is full of shoppers and that these shoppers also need to get through the aisles. Yet there are always a few that have to park their cart in the middle of the aisle while they read every ingredient on a box of cookies. You would think after people said "excuse me" a few times, they'd figure it out and start parking their cart to the side, but they don't.
Yes! I hate it. It makes no sense why they park their cart in the middle of the aisle. What is wrong with them? I think it's funny when there's a cart parked in the middle and other people with carts are coming from both directions and can't get past. I've shared a with many a shopper coming from the opposite direction.
By the way, Sunday is my main grocery shopping day so I'm facing this annoyance in a couple hours.
In Wal-mart yesterday there were 2 employees chit-chatting and blocking an aisle so no one could get through. I guess they didn't have enough work to do.
Here's another grocery store pet peeve. Why does the whole family have to go shopping? Mom, dad and all the kids running around?? And pushing carts around!! When DS was little the grocery store was the only place I could be by myself and I enjoyed every minute of it
The grocery store in our area with the best prices (by far) also happens to be one of the older ones. I guess in 1970 it was considered a "Super" market, but compared to the monstrocities they are building now, it is very small. So the blocked isles thing is a real problem. Because of the prices and location we have a high ratio of senior citizens shopping and many of them are the isle-blocking offenders. Because I was raised to respect older persons no matter what, I cannot bring myself to vent my frustrations outloud. But many times I have taught to ask them, "Is this how you drive your car? Would you just stop in the middle of the road and block traffic for your own convenience?"
Something else that contributes to the isles getting jammed up is those darn product displays!! They should be outlawed!!
And while we are venting aboout grocery stores! Can someone explain to me why they don't put the little machine one uses to pay w/ credit/debit card down at the area where you are standing when you are done bagging? They put them up by the cashier so that when you are done bagging you have to ask the person behind you to please back up so you can push your cart back and get to the little machine w/ your card! Some man who has never set foot in a grocery store probably decided where they should be put!
Actually the biggest pet peeve I have is that the stockers start stocking shelves around 8pm. They bring out these huge pallets of groceries and you can't get down the aisles at all! I think they should do that later at night. 8pm is still early.
Yes, I bag my own groceries.....But I DON'T pump my own gas!!!
The baggers are only around once and a while. I know most would see this as a hardship, but I actually prefer it. I like to know where in each bag everything is. The baggers always crush my bread or stick a frozen item in w/ nonperishables so that it is half-thawed by the time I find it.
As to stocking the shelves.....they do this all day long, everyday at my store. I agree, another pain in the neck.
There are aisle blockers every hour of every day at Wal Mart. You can go at 3am, and they're there. It's like they know you're coming.
I am ashamed to say though that my fiance is an aisle blocker. He doesn't mean to, and he'll move the cart if someone points it out. He is just so easily distracted that a shiny box of cereal has him wandering away. I'm trying to break him of the habit, but it will probably take a few more years.
