Ours does. It seems that my DW Sue is mother to every organization in town. Our #$%^& phone has been ringing every 10 minutes since we got home from vacation this past Saturday. And it's not telephone solicitors either. And it doesn't help that we have two teenage children either. The only reason that James isn't getting his share of phone calls tonight is that two of the people who usually phone him regularly are visiting our house right now. One of them just got a phone call a minute ago.

We purchased the 5th Harry Potter book while at WDW and, upon returning home, I bought the audio book so that we could all listen to the remaining chapters of the book. I know that I'm just whining, but it seems that everytime we start to listen to the book, the phone rings. I've given up any hope of an uninterrupted evening at home. I have threatened to disconnect the phone, but I know that I can't do that either. We have caller ID, but Sue and the kids have this uncontrollable urge to answer the phone whenever it rings regardless of who is on the other end.

Sue's back from her most recent phone call. So it's back to Harry Potter until the phone rings again (in 10 minutes).

Yes, and it's very rarely for me. I don't even answer it anymore.

I never answer it. If it is for me, they will call my cell phone. If it is for one of the other three in the household, and they don't get it, we have a 4 slot voicemail (mine never gets any, LOL) for the caller to leave message for that person.

When my dd is home, it rings off the hook. If I'm on the computer, it doesn't ring (I'm on dial up;), I have callwave, but I have my sound on mute, so I don't hear it ring;)).

Gotta love the caller id...
I always check it out and make dw answer it...since it's usually her family..:jester:

Well, it's like the TV or the Computer or even - gasp! - posting to the DISboards.....if it starts controlling you - you have to control it!

It's okay to talk with someone on the phone, or post to the DIS or watch a TV program - but if you start to feel that it's controlling your life - then you have to control it. Only you know how to do it for your particular circumstances - but you should talk to your family and try to reach a concensus with the others about what to do. For example you could choose that all incoming phone calls after 8 pm are to be handled by the machine or voice mail.

Earlier this month, I went back to "basic" cable (as I was watching too much TV). I was also posting "too much" (I post to other boards too  ) so I now have rules about how much posting per day that I will do.

yes our phone rings more like every 5 min and it's usually no one on other end. and this always seems to happen between 8 and 10 am when i'm just dragging my butt out of bed and dh is trying to sleep. i've gotten to point i turn ringer off bury phone and sometimes just get online so they get a busy signal.

Nope our doesn't anymore... its such a releif.. Most of the time when it does.. we let the machine get it.

The amazing thing is that our phone didn't ring all this morning. We all got to sleep in for the first time since we got back from vacation. In fact, it's half past noon and nobody has called.

I wonder if the phone is broken. :earseek:

Have a safe and happy day everyone.
