an ice cream man? By this I mean a truck that comes around and sells ice cream? For some reason my DS thinks that all neighborhoods have this (based on his grandma's house) and that when we move from Italy to the US his new house will have a neighborhood ice cream truck.

OMG!!!!!!! We do. He's creepy though. Like, he comes out after dark (like at 9, 10 PM!) playing his creepy old time children's songs for the neighborhood to hear. I never see him before 5 PM. EVER. He is so scary.

I live on what is considered a rural route so no ice cream man. However, when we lived in the city there was an ice cream truck that would come by a couple of times a week all summer.

No. In the last couple of months, there's been an icee lady, but she's only been there 2 times since I moved here 12 years ago.

Yes, we do. He comes by at 6:00pm every night. The truck that comes here has soft serve ice cream, milk shakes and the regular novelties.

Not currently, but I did for a few years when I was young (about age 4-7), until we moved. :)

We also have an ice cream man. As a matter of fact, he is the same one who came around when I was a kid. He recently told us that he has been doing this for 40 years!

Yes a few of them, actually. Ours are all creepy too.

Yes, but ours is so scary that I wont let the kids buy anything from him. The kids know that they cant have anything from him, but they still get really excited to hear him coming. The run to the front window and watch him drive by.

Within the past month we have started to hear the icecream truck music, but we still haven't seen the truck! :D

I honestly do not know what he looks like.....only looked at the expensive wares he is selling.....cheaper to go to the corner store and get their ice cream .....

Not in my neighborhood...but an ice cream truck has been parking outside of DS's school at dismissal time for the past month or so

EsmereldaX--follow your instincts about the creepy guy. We had an ice cream truck in my old neighborhood and as it turns out, they were actually dealing drugs from the truck. A certain tune would signify that more than ice cream was available.

We sorta do, but he mostly goes and stops over on the next street. Doesn't come down ours to often, not many kids on the street. That's alright because my DS doesn't ask when he comes by anyhow, he has to be in an icecream mood as he tells me!

We must be in the minority because not only do we have an ice cream man, but he's great! We usually have some college kid on summer break. They're polite and friendly and don't mind when we "shop".

We're usually out at softball when he comes (around 5-6:00) but if we're home, we usually run out to get something. Our dog LOVES the ice cream man - the old kid used to let him hop in the truck and would always give him a scoop of vanilla. I don't think the board of health appreciated that one!

What a wonderful memory that brings back, the tinkling of the Good Humor Man's bells, and the kid's yelling, "Stop". Then running inside to beg for money. We lived in a small town with rows and rows of houses very close together, and the GHM would come every evening. I would be afraid of that kind of thing now, very sad...

no but we have a music truck that comes around and plays music ;)

At least what we tell our kids.

We live in a gated neighborhood and Ive never seen one.... it must be against the HOA rules..... everything else is!

No.... we live in a fairly rural area, so no ice cream truck. But there is one that goes by my MIL house.... We were visiting MIL one time and we let DD have ice cream before lunch one day because that is when it went by and it was the first time she had ever seen one! .......................P
