I was stopped at a stoplight recently and pulled up next to a mail delivery truck. The worker inside was smoking. Is this common?

I don't have an answer for you..
But this is like the 3rd post I have seen this week about postal service complaints...
Why do you care ore ask such a question?![]()
Maybe because the smoke might get onto the letters and if someone is allergic it might affect them?

This is a joke right?Do you know how much postal workers put up with from the public? If they aren't blowing smoke in your face or smoking at your front door then give them a break and myob.
If my mail which is my property reaks of smoke, I would have a huge problem.
If they wish to smoke they should do that off the clock or on a break, not in the jeep that holds other people's property. Smoke is smelly and harmful and affects others.
One tiny piece of mail MAY smell like smoke, has touched a hundred hands, from god knows where? Ok to be more forthcoming my DH is mailman. He doesn't smoke but constantly puts up with TONS of abuse from the public. Including threats on his life. Don't come at me with a piece of mail may smell like smoke.

I have nothing but respect for postal workers. I have no problem with any postal workers smoking on their own time. What i have a problem is them smoking around someone's property.
I am severly allergic that if I even inhale or smell a very small amount of cigerette smoke, I have to call 911 and go ot to the hospital. I would be very upset that i had to pay for a hospital bill becuase a postal worker could not wait to light up until he was at least out of his jeep. Maybe I should the bill to the postal worker?
And by the way, i have never been rude or abusive to a postal worker.
