Does your kid(s)' teacher have a website?

If they do, what's on it? Is there anything they don't have on it, you think they should? Neither of my kids' teachers have a website. On the link for their school, it just lists their names, and shows their pictures. I think I'd like to know when it's best to contact them, where it's best to contact them, maybe list a weekly curriculum or something. We go meet their teachers on Thursday. I might ask them if they're going to try to do a website, or ask if they have a website when I go see them.

The teachers I work for (a team of middle school teachers) have a website.

They usually have links, assignments, contact infor, etc..

Mind you this is a middle school approach. Each teacher is a specified subject teacher, with the exception of Ms. Graves/Mrs. Kenig.. (they are special education teachers)

I found it's much more common in middle school than in elementary school. our "teams" didn't have websites, though, each teaher has his or her own site. they post assignments and pictures of the classroom, and sometimes will post links to useful information -- like the social studies teacher who posts a link to a political cartoons page after assigning the students to find and analyze political cartoons. I was able to e mail one of dd's teachers with my concerns because of his link on his web page. I think it's a great idea.

I teach in a HS and parents can EMail me from the school website, and I also send home a letter at the start of the school year with my EMail and the times I am available to phone (before school and 7th period--I do not give out my phone # at home).
Honestly, when I have 100 kids, teach English and am nagged year after year to do more writing (and as a result carefully grade it) I have a million better things to do than worry about a website. Last year we were presented with a program where we can post our daily homework online, but until I am contractually obligated to do it, I won't.

I am almost certain that our middle school teachers are contractually obligated to do it. I haven't seen much on the elementary end, but my kids were in Kindergarten (half day) and a new first year teacher for my son (2nd)

It is a lot of work to do, but I do know that our middle school has a tech person onsite to help them with it.. either that or the tech person does. it? Don't know the ins and outs of it.

Some of my dd's teachers have them and some of them don't. Sometimes the teachers have not taken the InTech class that they must have in order to make the website. I know in our school there are lots of teachers who have not taken it yet and have blank pages. After that its up to the teacher to keep it up or not. It would be helpful but is very time consuming with all the other stuff they have to do.

Our local high school has a comprehensive website...the teachers have individual pages on it. Some have no more than a link to their e-mail addresses. Some post contact information (phone numbers, times to call) etc. Others have curriculum, homework assignments, test schedules, links to resources or references for the subject matter....one even has a passworded system to go in and look at your child's record (for that course that semester).

Some of my high school teachers had individual websites linked from the high school page, others just had their email address up there. My english teacher's site senior year was very helpful. She would post an entire weeks work, every journal entry for the marking period, and all the dittos we received in acrobat format for our term paper. It was great if you missed a day of class, or if you lost something.
