Next year, my 2 oldest kids will both be in the high school (our district doesn't move the kids to the high school building til the 10th grade due to lack of space
). Anyway, when you choose your course, they are not only for your particular grade. Both my kids have done the same 'majors' in 9th grade and they each plan to continue with it next year (tv production/web design/animation), they will more than likely be in the same class next year!!
When you pick your classes at the high school, you will have kids from 10th, 11th or 12th in the same room.
It hasn't bothered my son this year, but I am NOT too sure he is going to want his sister sitting in the same class as he will be next year..........although, "grade" wise, it might be a good thing...they are HIGHLY competitive!!

I never heard of this before!!! Of course, seeing how my siblings were 22, 24 and 26 yrs older than me, it wouldn't of even been a remote possibility!
