Does your employer offer any unique benefits?

Free college tuition for your children

....but even better is the "Family Picnic" with bouncy houses, snow kones, and cotton candy (Well, at least that's the benefit my kids are far more interested in.... =)

DH really misses the stocked soda cooler from his old job. And every summer the office would go together to watch the big summer movie.

His current job has a fancy coffee machine, and the company orders in lunch every Friday. And they participate in the Ecopass program here in Denver. So DH doesn't have to pay to ride the buses and light rail. They also have a reward system where coworker single you out for something good you've done. For every 5 you get you get a lunch or small gift card. For Christmas, they gave everyone $50 from Target or their favorite GC, and they gave the spouses $20 for having to put up with the sometimes late hours and other stresses that come with taking work home. The office goes to Opening Day for baseball. And the CEO hosts a BBQ at his house every summer.

Both were small software/tech companies, and so perks are pretty common in the field.

We used to do casual days which is nice
They used to get us tickets to amsuments parks in the area

One of my clients hosts "lunch and learn" seminars for their employees once a month. The company provides lunch and hosts guest speakers that would be of interest to various employees, like a travel agency with travel tips, a financial advisor, a yoga instructor, a nutritionist, computer classes (like intro to blogging, twitter, facebook, photoshop), jewelry making or other crafts...you get the idea. The cost is minimal, but the enrichment aspect is beneficial to the employees. They limit the number of attendees to the first 50 who sign up and lunch is roll up sandwiches, pizza or salads (nothing fancy).

Whenever the schools have a snow day, or a holiday or school vacation week, my company allows people to bring their children to work and they have all kinds of activities set up to keep them entertained. They play games, show movies, have people dress up as characters & take pictures. So the kids all go down to a couple of conference rooms (by age) and the parents can work a normal day, then have lunch & breaks with the kids. This keeps employees from calling out on snow days and school vacations. We call it kid camp, and most of the kids look forward to it. Upper management usually staffs it, so they basically get a day off to watch the kids. Sometimes they let hourly people volunteer too if they need more help.

On Mondays they have free coffee all day in the cafe, that is super popular. On snow days they also usually have donuts & muffins coffee juice knowing that people will be running late and not have time to stop.

We get discounts on GE appliances. We get a decent rate on tickets for concerts & sporting events.

Tuition assistance is the BEST.

Having a workout room or health center ON SITE saves a ton on med insurance costs, and people call out way less. People are way more likely to use it if they dont have to go anywhere.

We get huge discounts at local museums. Small discounts at local resteraunts, gyms, movie theaters.

A hospital nearby includes "Pet insurance" in their insurance offerings, it is a really reasonable rate because there are so many employees and saves people a LOT on vet bills. it is VERY popular. I wish I had it!

Before all major holidays they have things in the lobby to help us out, like before Mothers day & Valentines there is usually a florist we can order through and a bunch of tables of "gifts" we can buy. It really saves a trip to the store.

The last company I worked for gave you your birthday off paid!

I used to work at a small veterinary hospital. our boss would give us our Birthday off with pay (if your Birthday was Sat. or Sunday you got the Friday or monday off.)

The last company I worked for gave you your birthday off paid!

I worked for a place like that when I was younger and it was AWESOME! Your own Holiday! :goodvibes everyone loved that one!:thumbsup2

Some things we give our employees (another manufacturing company) is $5 gift certificates for fast food, easy to distribute in the pay envelopes. We rotate fast food companies. These are always accompanied by a newsletter thanking the employees for their hard work.

Once a year we give every plant employee two tickets plus parking to our county fair and once a year we give every plant employee two tickets to our local waterpark. We do random drawings for fair packages and season tickets to the waterpark. We take the package winners photos and post them on the employee boards.

Parking here is a real issue so an employee is selected each month to get a front and center parking spot.

There are random "pizza parties" done for each production line (not all lines are done at the same time). In the hot summer, we've also done ice cream or popsicles for everyone.

We have a luncheon in December where upper management serves the food to the production employees and we hand out the bonuses and gifts, shake their hand and say thank you. Each employee gets a bonus, a gift certificate to a grocery store, a giftbox of food, a bag of homemade cookies (I have all of my staff do the baking) and some clothing item, a jacket/shirt/etc. (this item is changed each year). At this luncheon, we also raffle off TV's, ipods, etc. This luncheon is always done on the last day of production before we close the plant for 2 weeks so that everyone has the chance to spend the holidays with family.

We've also given extra paid days off in handwritten thank you cards.

That's all I can remember right now. This company has many production employees who have been here for over 30 years and I think it's because upper management makes sure that the employees are acknowledged frequently. It does not require a "grand exensive gesture" to make people feel appreciated.

My DH also works in manufacturing and one perk they have is Summer hours.

From May-September, on Friday, they are done at noon. :thumbsup2:woohoo:

We have emplyee of the month parking as well, which used to be awesome until all the managers started parking in it, then they emplyee of the month turned into disgruntled employee of the month every morning. :lmao:

Pakey-lol you guys hiring? :goodvibes

My Df has "summer Fridays" they get to take 4 fridays off each summer.

I get to sleep with my secretary ... how can you beat that? It's every mans dream isn't it, have a hot secretary in the office that wants you. In fact shes so hot I married her 23 years ago ..... got ya ;)

We own a RV dealership so we let our people use a motorhome or boat when they want them. We also have a birthday party once a month for everyone born that month. A college fund for the people with children and for the single guys we do some other small things on a personal level like help them with credit lines and so on. I believe sales people need to have a clear mind to do their job well so I don't stand by and wait it out when I think they have a personal problem.

I think flex-time would be a great option. Is that possible?

We have:

Free coffee, tea, soda & bottled water.

Free lunch on Friday

There's always some type of food in the kitchen (crackers, balance bars, fruit, etc.)

Every now and then the boss lets everyone go early on Fridays.

Every year he takes us all to Boston for dinner and a show.

We have a local baseball team and go a couple of times during the summer. He rents out a box and pays for all the food/drinks, etc.

My in-laws own a business and they have a tanning bed that their employees can use free of charge.

The company I worked for before I became a SAHM had about 200 in-office employees. We had free soda, bottled water, juice and lunch (including salad bar, soup, sandwiches, hot lunch and desert).

My dh's company has a full service coffe shop (think same size amenties as Starbucks) in every single building on their campus and all the beverages are free everyday (actually paid not from the companies budget, but out of the founders pocket as a thank you to employees). Every break room has free fountain soda's as well.

They match dollar for dollar charity contributions.

One thing they used to do that has since been cut is an adoption benefit. Previously they reimbursed adoption expenses up to a certain dollar amount (medical covers pregnancies and they even have infertility treatment coverage at this company, so why not adoption too really). It's not something many employees use, but it means a lot to the employees who use it and it generally fosters at lot of loyalty and good will towards the company.
