Does your SO every get you a gift, which is not actually for you, but for them?

My DH asked me if I want an Ipod for my birthday. I know he wants one for himself, I don't want one. He keeps asking me, though, to see if I'll change my mind. Why doesn't he just get me something I want and get the Ipod for himself? It's like he's looking for a reason to buy himself an Ipod, and my birthday is as good as any!! :rotfl2: I swear his name is really Raymond.

Anyone else?

I bought DH the Pirates of the Caribbean last year for his birthday because I wanted it. :lmao: He did want it too though. ;)

Too funny! Guess what I got for Christmas? An Ipod Video! Never asked for it, never use it! My DH takes it with him on his 4 hour round-trip commute to work every day! And now he wants to know if I want the car adapter for the iPod. Umm... Don't you mean, YOUR iPod honey? :confused3

I swear, if I open anything related to an iPod for Mother's Day, I'm gonna open a can of you-know-what on him! :thumbsup2

Well, my DH is pretty good with gifts, but this year he DID decide that the perfect gift would be a trip to WDW...you know, a trip he would get to come along on...

They all think alike, don't they!!! :lmao:

How do you think I got "my" big screen television?

Just like the green aliens in Toy Story! When it comes to gift giving, men operate with their "Uni-Mind!"

One year I received a speaker system (to put in our living room) for Xmas. When we were house hunting DH mentioned how nice it would be to have one and kept bringing it up - I agreed it would be OK (my big mistake), but I wasn't all that enthusiastic about it. Neither of us are audiophiles or anything. Bottom line it is something HE really wanted - and at the time and with a new house, there were a zillion other things I could think of.

The other problem I have is: if he wanted it sooooo bad (or thought I did), why are speakers 3 and 4 STILL not mounted on the wall...TWO YEARS LATER!? Only speaker 1 and 2 are out because they go on top of the ent. center.

Vent done....

:wizard:

My husband got me surround sound speakers one year for Christmas. I was like :confused3 Now he is currently upgrading his speaker set to 7.1 while asking my mom how much the coach bag was that my mom went and picked out and bought for him to give to me for Mothers day. Again :confused3

I saw a commercial late last year for a Roller Coaster Tycoon video game on TV. I off the hand mentioned it to my DH that it looked kind of cool. Kind of like that build your own coaster thing at DisneyQuest. Well DH jumped on that fast and for Christmas I got 6-7 different Tycoon/Sim Coaster, etc.. type games. :confused3 I don't even really like video games and I certainly never mentioned wanting a game called Zoo Tycoon. :rolleyes2 Bottom line...HE wanted the games and he thought this was the perfect way to get them.

Men....ya gotta love 'em! :rotfl2:

There was the one Mothers day I received a cordless powerdrill :rolleyes2

My DH never buys me something he wants. Of course he never actually wants anything. Hummmmmm, may that is why? I gets lots of Disney stuff. I got an IPOD for Valentine's Day 2005 and love it. He has never used it to this day. I take it to work.

no, but i confess that if the kids ask for a christmas gift that i think will rate high on the annoying or bickering or "it's just gonna drive me crazy" scale-santa has been known to gift me or dh with it instead. in that way its "our toy" which we can loan to the kids but take back if it gets to be a problem.

i was the only mom on my block to get 2 star wars dueling light sabers from santa this christmas :teeth: :teeth:

I really hope DH didn't want the metallic gold handbag he got me for my birthday!

Nope, and I would be both hurt and furious if he did!

He's a complete sweetie and would never do that though. And he knows that if he did then he wouldn't be playing with it - I'd send it back and get the money instead :rotfl:

And besides, we're big fans of The Simpsons and have seen that episode with Homer's bowling ball plenty :teeth:

I got a George Foreman grill that I never knew that I wanted for my birthday a few years ago. (I got other things too.)

I got the Darth Vader mask to go with them for Christmas! My DD saw it on TV and just knew I had to have it :teeth:.
