Does your DH, DW, or SO do this? Gift giving...

DBF is actually trying to do this. My birthday is coming up at the end of the month and he keeps asking me if I want a new tv. I have a small tv in my room. I'm not much of a tv watcher so it suits me just fine. He says I will be happier with a bigger tv. I know he just wants a bigger tv to watch the games on while over my house. Then there's the whole DVR/HD cable box debate going on too.

I swear, if I get a new tv or a cable box for my birthday, someones gonna get slapped upside the head.

Does your SO every get you a gift, which is not actually for you, but for them?

My DH asked me if I want an Ipod for my birthday. I know he wants one for himself, I don't want one. He keeps asking me, though, to see if I'll change my mind. Why doesn't he just get me something I want and get the Ipod for himself? It's like he's looking for a reason to buy himself an Ipod, and my birthday is as good as any!! I swear his name is really Raymond.

Anyone else?

This happens every year at CHRISTMAS!! He will get me what I want, then he also gets me things that he would like, and he ends up with!! I don't buy him stuff I would want!! HEELLOOOO!! What's up with this

Well my dh bought me a GPS system for Christmas one year, and asked me, who is totally computer illiterate what I thought. After turning the dang thing around and trying to figure out what the heck it was suppose to be for, my mother said, "Thats for the boat isn't it?" Needless to say my mother was more upset than I. He has not made that mistake again.

For Christmas 2004 my dh told me that me gift would be gotten after Christmas and he had something really nice in mind. I was excited. After Christmas we went looking for my gift. A really nice video camera. Now I had asked for a digital camera not a video camera. He wanted that. Every store he would look at the cameras and go over all the features with the sales staff while I looked around the store.

Well at least your SO get you anything at all. I have found it best not to expect anything for birthday, mother's day, christmas. from him. I did lay into him that he could at least help the girls remember my birthday. Still doesn't happen....oh well.

A few years back for Christmas DH got me a stereo for my car, speakers and a small stereo for the den. All things he asked for and got. Needless to say we returned all the things he bought and I got what was on my list. Even better, he felt so bad about it, he went the day after Christmas to do the exchanges and didn't complain once.

No, my Dh doesn't do this. He actually buys me things that I will like. However, when my son was 5 he gave me a whoopie cushion for my birthday, so I guess this bad habit can start at a young age!!! Of course, it was Dh who took Ds shopping---hmmmmmm.
