Does WDW need more Hotel rooms/Resorts?

No. There are enough IMO. I am thinking offsite for my Feb 2018 stay, since I will have an AP for free parking.

not everyone who stays at a resort goes to the parks, and not everyone who goes to the parks stays at the resort.

True, but even if only 50% of the resort people go to the parks, if you add 100 more rooms that % will still carry over. So that is still another 50 extra rooms of people heading to the parks.

That is what it sounds like. Staying there = full experience. You are role playing for the duration of your stay.

That's what I was thinking. No effect on me, I have no need to stay there what so ever. But this is awesome for Star Wars Fans.
