Does VMK play favorites??

I voted yes and I think I should clarify that.


I do not think that nor have I seen evidence to support that VMK Hosts have actually played favorites with this promotion.


I actually voted before reading the question fully and voted the day the "Mickey Rug" appeared so that was fresh in my mind.


It seems for those who do not know that VMK has removed the mickey rug from the game(there were 2 in game)

How those rugs were obtained remains a mystery.

Hi,

I would like to take a moment also to clarify something. Several months ago all the VMK staff including Hosts and VMK_Staff cleared their friends lists and removed all Community Leaders. They were never given an explanation as to why. With this promotion it has been a Nightmare for CL_slinkyman and CL_smalld and other leaders. They are constantly being asked and yelled at by players to tell them where the staff are. They are being told they are mean for not letting others know where the hosts are or are going. They DO NOT know. They are like the rest of us and have to camp out in places hoping that the host shows up. Ink has not even opened a room during this event as he said people will only come and form a line because they think the host will go to them because they are leader. I know this comes with the territory of being a leader but Ink wishes in all those messages VMK sends out that they would let players know that CL's do not have staff on their list and can not find them.

I voted yes because overall, I do think there is some favoritism on VMK. I do believe that it has gone down since I started 2 years ago.
Also, favorites are not necessarily CL's. There are several others that have never been CL's.


But if you think they are not playing favorites during this promotion, think on this...

How is it that I seen a very well known staff fave with Dreams Ears, Dreams Logo pin & Dreams Fairy pin just last night?
Just extremely lucky, huh?
When there are lots more out there that have been on during all events since it started and still have nothing? Even if they've seen a host? They must just have very bad luck.

As for Yavn, he may be the most fair of people, but, others on staff can still manage to give to their faves without is being very obvious.

Ink wishes in all those messages VMK sends out that they would let players know that CL's do not have staff on their list and can not find them.

I just think that Hosts choose either the players that have been there since day 1, have followed the rules at all times, or are brand new players that just got their feet wet.

Quoting straight from the newsletter:

When visiting players guest rooms, Hosts are assigned a certain type of room to visit, so creating a "Host Come Visit!" or "Please Give Me Dreams Stuff!" rooms won't get Hosts to visit your room.

So, they can easily find their friends rooms to see if they match the criteria. Or the most well known players, anyways. (Not necessarily saying this happens).


I've seen almost no "Joe Schmoe's" with dreams prizes. Not to say they aren't out there.

good point, I hadn't thought of that, although this events favoritism doesnt bother me, I just want the stuff sold in stores.

As far as favoritism I have not witnessed, but as I said pretty funny how the "usual suspects" have the dream stuff and multiples of it. I have been on line for every dream event and not receive a thing. Do not hang with me as I have the worst luck apparently.

Just can not find a room.

I disagree with Aengus, but I won't get into a debate about the issue.

As far as the CL's having been taken off of staff's lists, please remember that not all CL's even HAD staff on their lists. Those leaders had to tell players all the time that they did not have access to staff. Sorry, but Ink will just have to get used to that from players, as all CL's have previously.

I voted Yes, and I was thinking VMK has a whole, not just the Dreams promotion. People are people, and contrary to popular believe ( ), Hosts/Staff are people too. Anytime you have social interaction between people, friendships are likely to form. And who isn't going to slip their friend something "extra nice" once in a while? It's human nature. I'm not excusing it, and it doesn't make anything fair or "right" (you'll note that The World and Life are also neither; Our Nature being why, I should think), but it happens.

Is there favoritism in VMK? Absolutely. I doubt it not. Is it "officially allowed"? Of course not. Does VMK actively try to stop it? Of course. We can (and should!) frown upon the practice and work to reduce it, but preferential treatment will always be with us in VMK and anywhere else. It's something people just have to live with.

I think we posted at the same time. Not all CL's were so lucky as to have staff as friends.

I have been here since Day 1, have never gotten in trouble, but have no dream items. Seems like more than one CL i know has gotten dream stuff more than once, but maybe again they are on more than me.

Throwing my 2 cents in. I vote yes for one very simple reason. I pesonally know 2 people that just happen to be chumy with a certain host that each got inferno when they were giving those out and have both been visited by said host 3 times each in the last 7 days. Im sorry but there is simply no possible way for 2 different people to essentially hit the lottery over and over and over and ..................

With that said so what life is hard and people will play favotires forever. I only feel bad for all the kids that have to learn this horrible lesson from DISNEY the one orginazation that should be spreading the message of inclusion not this selective "special" or "lucky" junk.

In closing I will continue to not care if I get them or not as I never got an inferno either

Being kind of a stats junkie.. I'd like to see the breakdown between the percentage of CL who have received dream items compared to the "regular folk."

Betting it's like 80% to 20% .. maybe pushing 85%

I don't believe that. There are thousands of regular folks in the game. When Lily came to my room the other night there were at lease 5 players in there I did not know as I opened my room to everyone. And they all got the ears.

I voted no. I was on the dock the other day when I received my ears, along with a roomful of random people. It seemed like Fin just wandered in and gifted the whole room.

Bug brought up a good point about CL's and having staff on one's list. To be honest, I used to lie when people asked if I did (the irony that I am being honest about lying is not lost on me here!) but I didn't think that it was information that anyone else needed to have. I did have a few people on my list, but not really because anyone truly befriended me. I helped with a few events/games and was sent a friend request as a result. No one has ever shown me any favoritism.

I think what this thread really demonstrates is how upset people are by this Dreams month because there isn't easy access to the prizes. It has created such negativity and jealousy that it has sapped the joy from receiving prizes.

Well after seeing this event run It is possible to be in the right room 3 times in a row.

I got my first dream from Hula in the bazaar. Next afternoon I was in thunder mountain with Lily. And last dream I was in fantasyLand Ride rooms. Watching Hula pull sword out of stone. I heard here tell a kid that no she was not giving prizes out right now. So I thought if she is looking for something none of us has it. So I took a wild guess and changed my hat. I still do not know if it was the hat or that I changed hehe.

The next day I spent the whole day keeping my hubby's character out and saw no host. Same as yesterday no host.

Actually I think the prizes are not as plentiful and if they re are some other board is getting them.

Because there were a lot of Disers getting lots of prizes in the first few days.

So am wondering if on other boards are they discussing does VMK show favouritism to Dis members hehe.

Also staff can not check their friends list to see if they are in that room. If what everyone is saying they have no friends list with CL or other players right now.

So it has to be random. Will it help if I player knows a host in the room. Maybe but then as I see it all are getting the same prize so everyone wins.

Do I think VMK shows favoritism yes but not like they used to. I think they have been really working on this. Do I think their is favoritism in the dreams events. I think I have to go with my gut level. 95% say they being fair to all. But here is still that 5% not sure.

But as I have seen; this event has brought out the best in people and in some it has shown their true nature not neccessarily a good one.

I think over all this has been a good event. Do I hope to get another dream yes; but I really only want the pins since I have none yet. Will I keep trying yes until Friday when I am off to Disney.

What are my chances slim. But not impossible just like everyone else
