Does using a travel agent help?

Use a travel agent that specialises in Disney not a general one!

Google "Authorized Disney Vacation Planner" and you will get the trustworthy agencies, included the agency that sponsors DIS. I've only been twice but use a TA both times and was totally satisfied. Before going with the TA we used, I had queried AAA online and received two very different responses with very different prices from two separate AAA-supposedly-Disney specialists. Needless to say, I did not go with AAA. I will say that the TA I used goes on an awful lot of "business trips" to Disney. I think I want to be a TA.

Use Dreams Unlimited!! They are a huge sponsor of the dis boards!! The Podcast Crew are all invested- Pete and John have ownership and the rest are employees! Use them, I highly recommend it!!!!

We are taking our second trip to the World next month. The first time I didn't use a TA and things were not very complicated. I also find planning to be half the fun. This time however after making my plans and doing all the research I contacted a Disney authorized TA (Dreams Unlimited and they have been great!) for their quote on what I had planned. They saved me nearly $1400 on my vacation. Not that I wouldn't have possibly found it later but as different discounts (such as DxDP instead of the standard dining plan for the same price we budgeted and the 3 free nights for every 4 we booked) became available they took advantage of them and I don't know if I would have miss some of them. We already had our airline tickets so I don't know about any savings there. I would always do the planning first from now on and then hand it over to a Disney specialist and see if they can come up with something better. Besides, I was really nice to have someone else worry about ADR's. I just let them know where and when I wanted to eat and they made all the ressies. This was really nice since the day before my 90+10 became available they changed back to 180 days and I would have had to deal with all the extra people making their ADR's.
