We have friends getting ready to cross the pond to renew their Visas. Before heading off to visit family, they are spending a few days in London showing their kids some of the popular sights. The kids aren't big Disney fans:scared1:, so I thought instead of trying to buy them something from our vacation, let them buy something on their trip. If I give them each $10-15 American dollars would they be able to spend them in London, or at least convert them maybe at their hotel ? I don't want it to be an issue for my friends to exchange the money, but wanted to sprinkle some British pixie dust on them !!:wizard:

No they wouldn't be able to spend $'s here, I don't think many London hotels would change it up either.

Could you change it up to £'s for them before you give it to them?

if you converted $15 at the exchange desks you would get just around £8.00
enough to get you a gallon of fue:scared1: Best bet would be getting them £10.00 each as PP try to convert before them going do you know anyone thats just come back and has any £ left you could buy from ?You could give them a better rate than the exchanges:thumbsup2

Thanks for the info. I'll check out the possibilities from my end, the exchange rate doesn't seem very good , no wonder my friend said the trip was going to be expensive.
