I didn't want to go on the parks board and be depressed (I cry at WDW commercials for pete's sake) so I thought I'd ask here.
DH has said before that I need to go on vacation for my sanity (he must think I'm some kind of a psycho, LOL) and we'll make it happen somehow. However, that was before he was in the hospital. Today he stood up for 5 minutes in physical therapy so he seems to be on the upswing, but I don't think he will be able to go right back to work when he gets out.
Right now I'm paying all the bills again and we are definately paycheck to paycheck. There isn't any savings to speak of. I don't see how we could save thousands of dollars by summer, even if we went in August. (I teach so it has to be summertime, or Christmas!) We don't use credit cards anymore.
After the sucky year we've had there is nothing I would like better than a Disney vacation. However, I don't want the stress of saving for it to make things even more stressful!
I'm thinking if the 50th anniversary celebration goes through 2006, we can make it a real whopper of a vacation NEXT summer and that would also be our 20th anniversary. If things do get better this year we could do a smaller trip somewhere else; maybe see his sister in NC and go to the outer banks for a day or two. Or if things get REALLY better we could go over the holidays.

Sorry I don't have the answer, but I would like to know as well. We can't go this year, but I would love to see the castle with all the gold!

Thanks for asking this one, Rock'n Robin. I was wondering the same thing. We also can't afford to go this year, so I can sympathize! We'll probably be there in 8/06, and I can't bear to really think about planning, it'll only depress me. Maybe I'll see you there at that time!

Cool! That's good news--no pressure to "have" to go to see the festivities this year. Our anniversary is in June but the kids have stuff they do in the summer until the end of July, so it will probably be either over the 4th of July week (when they won't miss as much) or August before I go back to work.

The celebration begins in May 2005 and will finish at the end of September, 2006.

Please don't flame me, but are the dates quoted above for BOTH parks (DL and WDW)? Anyone, anyone?

**I'm asking b/c I didn't make it to WDW during the holidays this year. ::sad::**

There are some assumptions flying around that a new celebration, WDW's 35th anniversary, will begin October 1, 2006.
