Does this sound right on transfers??

I hadn't done a transfer for a few years. I have a Feb UY and the person transferring to me has a Dec UY. MS wouldn't let him transfer his 2012 points (his current UY) or his 2013 points to me because we have different UY for an August trip?? We even called back to see if a different person would give us an answer that made sense. I never ran into this issue before?

Transfers retain their home resort advantage and UY. You don't need to transfer the same UY but the points need to be available for the date of the reservation.

Call back and ask to speak to a Team Line CM.

Thanks, we just had him book the first 2 nights with his points and mine for the last 5, but what a pain in the neck because now he has to book Magical Express, etc. I will remember this next time!!

Transfers can be a pain and you run the rusk of MS screwing up your account/points.

Transfers don't need to have the same Use Month, but points from one member's 2012 Use Year are supposed to be transferred into your 2012 Use Year - and you no longer have access to a 2012 Use Year. The other member could transfer his 2013 points into your 2013 Use Year, but since they will retain the December UY status, they could not be used for a trip prior to December, 2013 since transferred points cannot be borrowed.

I would call back and ask to speak with someone higher up at MS - since Disney magic might still happen - but the transfer policy doesn't seem to be in your favor with this specific situation. You should be able to receive a transfer of 2013 points into your 2013 Use Year for those with February, March, April, June and August Use Years.

Sounds like the CM either didn't want to be bothered and just said no or they were just ignorant. I actually had a transfer done once with points into my account AFTER my Use Year had already ended! I didn't even realize that until the woman doing the transfer took so long with it and I called her and she explained that Member Services was finagling something to get the transfer done (her points were still active obviously). Long story short, they can even go above and beyond sometimes - it just depends on the CM you get. Sorry you were unlucky.
