We're doing a charitable donation instead of traditional favors. I am not looking for the debate that it sparked last time. I am simply checking to see if this wording sounds OK. I found a wonderful LiveSTRONG image to put at the bottom of the wording. I will try to post it here, as well.
As some of you may know, both Brye and I lost close childhood friends this past year to cancer. While initially we were going to make donations to individula foundaitons established in their names, we though the money would go much further by choosing the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Both of them were very active in the LiveSTRONG campaign... and lived by it while battling their cancers. We're avoiding naming names here becuase we have each lost so many loved ones to cancer. We found that a common thread amongst them was how courageously they fought their battles... they all lived strong... much of the time comforting the rest of us.
To be placed in frames on each table:
Dear Friends and Family,
We have chosen a special way to say, Thank you, for sharing our wedding day with us one that makes a lasting difference.
In lieu of traditional favors, we have made a donation in your honor to the Lance Armstrong Foundation. The Lance Armstrong Foundation believes that in the battle with cancer, unity is strength, knowledge is power and attitude is everything. Donations to the Lance Armstrong Foundation help to fund education, advocacy, and research programs needed in the fight against cancer.
