Does this sound managable?

I wasn't really planning on going to Disney with a plan for our day(s) in the park BUT as its our first visit i want to try and get an idea of how we can make our way around the parks (mainly DL) and if we would have time to do it.

So our first day (thur 3rd Sep) i want to mainly concentrate on the DL park, according to previous years hours it will be open 9am-9pm (i think) with magic morning 8-9am.

I was hoping i can drag my boyfriend out of bed early enough to be at DL for 8am to make use of the MM :)

And ride-

  • Peter Pan
  • Alice
  • Matterhorn
  • Mr Toad
  • Pinocchio
  • Snow White
  • Buzz
  • Space (alone)

Whats the chances of getting all that done during MM? I'm thinking it's asking a bit much :confused3

When park opens at 9am

  • Grab fastpasses for Buzz
  • ride Space (if didn't manage to do it during MM)
  • 9.30 PS at Carnation cafe (im guessing we'll be done there around 10.15-10.30am?)
  • Get fastpasses for Indy (if we got our Buzz ones at 9, we can get these at 10.30 right?)
  • Jungle Cruise
  • Tiki room
  • POTC
  • Haunted mansion
  • Winnie the pooh or Splash mountain

Hopefully its around 12pm so we can get our next lot of fastpasses

Grab fastpasses for Big thunder railroad and then head over to Mickeys toontown (hopefully meet a couple fo characters), leave park around 1-1.30pm for a afternoon break and lunch at RFC :)

So does that all sound do-able by 1.30pm on the first thursday in september?

Return around 5pm and do

  • Mark Twain riverboat
  • Big thunder railroad (using FP we collected earlier, and get 2 more for later)
  • Winnie the pooh
  • It's a small world
  • King Arthur Carrousel

Unsure if Fantasmic, fireworks will be on yet?

If they are after those do

  • Nemo
  • Buzz (using FP we collected earlier)
  • Star wars

We are 2 adults in our mid 20's with no children to wrry about, incase that makes any differance with walking around the park all day.

Thanks in advance for any advice, tips or input :)

We always get to the park at opening. We go to Peter Pan first, ride it once or twice. Then we do Mr. Toad, Pinocchio and Snow White because they are all right together. Next we do Alice and the Matterhorn and then head to Tomorrowland. You will be amazed at how much you can get done!

We usually go in August, but 2 years ago, I took my oldest DD for her 16th birthday in September. We were there the Thurs., Fri., and Sat. after Labor Day. It was SO much less crowded than in August! In fact, we took a picture of the wait time for space mountain at 1 p.m. It was 10 minutes! It might be busier for you since you will be there before Labor Day. But you know all about fastpass, so you should have no trouble.

One final thing....Disneyland is much more compact than MK at WDW. You don't have to walk so far between attractions.

First, if there are very low crowds, they may not even be running the FP machines for Buzz or Big Thunder. Usually on uncrowded days FP is available for Space, Indy, Splash, and Roger Rabbit I think.

Second, you should be able to complete your plan during MM, especially if you go in that order. If you're not able to do all of it, you can definitely finish all of the FL rides in your plan.

Third, I would get Indy FPs before Buzz, unless Buzz is like your favorite ride ever. Buzz's FPs almost never run out.

Fourth, if you get a FP right when the FP machines open, your next FP will be available 45 min after you obtain your first FP. So if you get a FP at 9 (park opening), then you can actually get another around 9:45 (although you'll be in your breakfast).

Fifth, I don't think fireworks and Fantasmic are shown during the week during that time of year. What backs up my statement even more is that the hours in the past are 9-9. Fireworks are always at 9:25. Fantasmic is always at 9 and 10:30.

On the 2nd day, I would probably plan to get Splash and Indy Fast Passes as early as possible. Those are the 2 that always seems to have the longest wait times. You could probably get one as soon as you enter the park, then go back to Tomorrowland and try to do Space and Buzz before breakfast. Better yet, you said your boyfriend doesn't like Space so perhaps he could take both tickets to get the Splash FPs while you ride Space and you could meet up in front of Buzz. You could definitely get the FPs, and ride Space and Buzz before breakfast if you do that. After breakfast, you can get your Indy FPs. Remember that you can use your FPs anytime during the day, as long as it's past the beginning of the window. Don't worry if the last time in the window passes by. They will still accept them as long as you got them that day.

That is a very, very good idea! If he doesn't want to walk so far he could get Indy FPs instead, but Splash Mountain gets crowded very early, unless it's cold/raining, or the park is not crowded. We had "only" a 10-15 minute wait on a summer Sunday at 9:15 AM, but that was because the ride had been shut down just a few minutes before that.

On our trip, Pooh had almost no line most of the day, so I wouldn't bother doing that early.

We did a MM in the summer (but it was at 7 AM instead of 9 AM, which might have driven some people away). We were able to do:

*An indvidual photo in front of the castle for each of us, since we walk really fast and were THAT far ahead of the crowd, with only a man and a little girl ahead of us :)

IMG_7856.JPG

*First group in the whole park on Peter Pan's Flight
*Dumbo
*Matterhorn (one side)
*Matterhorn (other side)
*Alice in Wonderland
*Mr. Toad
*Pinocchio's Daring Journey (though I found that horribly depressing :( )
*Carousel
*Mad Tea Party
And we reached Space Mountain at 7:59 AM.

Snow White was not operating. By avoiding Dumbo, the Carousel, and the Mad Tea Party (all of which may have a few minutes' wait because they only do one cycle of people at a time), I think there's a pretty good chance that you can get everything on your list done during MM. If not, you should be on Space Mountain right about as the park opens, which will be OK.

If there is no Fantasmic and if the Mark Twain is running at night, I would suggest you do it at night. Not that the lines will be better, but it's just something that a lot of visitors never get to do anymore. I believe there should be a clock announcing when the last boat runs when you walk by the dock.

Hopefully, it will be a really un-crowded day, in which case whatever you do, you will be fine. :)

Have a great trip!

Thanks for the replys, much appriciated :)
Reading back through my plan i relised i mentioned picking up 2 lots of FP for big thunder railroad which i now relise i wont need to do because DBF won't ride this, so i'll already have a spare to use to ride later anyway.

So maybe i should swap Matterhorn with Snow white, as SW is closer to the other rides i'll be doing first?
I have read a number of times DL is much more compact than MK but i guess im not really sure how much more compact to expect :confused3

Lots of great tips, thanks. :thumbsup2
I didn't relise FP might not be open for some rides if its really quiet though I doubt it will be from what i've read as it's the thursday before Labor day. Though as i've never been to Disneyland i don't know what to expect as low or large crowds.
Will rememer about getting the FP for Indy first, just thought would get them for buzz as we were right by it and as my boyfriend isn't into anything fast, that goes upside down or has big drops it will probably be one of the few rides he'll be happy to go on.
Didn't relise we could get another FP at 9.45, at least i now know as soon as we are done with breakfast we will be able to grap another 2.
I re-checked previous years hours and DL actually closes at 10pm not 9pm, fireworks have been on previous years but no Fantasmic which i expected anyway.

That was actually just one days plan. IIRC Splash has a single rider que doesn't it? i might e doing this alone, depends on if DF can brave 'the drop' haha yes he's a 26 year old baby :rotfl:
I didn't think to send my boyfriend of to get FP while i ride Space, though if i got them for buzz at park opening we wouldn't be able to get anymore at that point, plus i don't know if i'd trust him not to get lost he's not exactly good with a map and wouldn't have a clue of he's way around DL :lmao:

Great photo, i'll rememer to drag my boyfriend quickly to the castle when the gates open :)
If we can at least get everything on the list in Fantasyland done during MM that will be great and some pictures by the castle without huge crowds.
I'd love it to be really uncrowded that would be great, though i won't hold much hope from what i've read.
