Does this sound like too much downtime?

so glad the op updated! as usual i read halfway through before realizing it was a zombie!

glad everything worked out for you op...now do everything the exact opposite, because thats how the second child usually likes it! lol have a great trip!

I got to Osborne lights. :)

But it was interesting to see how people tour. Glad to see it was a good plan. I wish I had more downtime scheduled in my upcoming trip but it's hard to fit it in! We'll see how it goes.

Yes like a pp said, second kid is always different! We just brought her to 4th of July fireworks and she was a champ. Excited to see fantasmic now that I know she can handle it and she stayed up for 8 hours straight so looking good for Disney in a couple months! Definitely taking people's advice this time and trying rope drop, break, back to parks

I read almost the whole thing before realizing it was almost 5 years old and now I feel invested. So I have to know...were you able to pick up your tickets early? And did you go to a park on that first Saturday or on your free day?

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much down time for my taste. If I were your DH I would be in full scale rebellion against so little park time. But I prefer to be in the Disney parks RD to close.

Sorry to bore you but I know there are some people that enjoy looking at other peoples itenarary ( I know I'm one of those).

So my husband doesn't want to talk about disney this past year and always said he'll talk about it the day before. He knows I obsess about it and he is the total opposite and just goes with the flow.

Well, now that we are 6 days out, he decides to ask to look at the itenarary and wants to have imput about it! 6 days before we leave!!

So my question is, do we have too much downtime? He thinks we should go to MK more. I think its just enough time.....

Here goes:
me, DH and 4 1/2 year old DD

Friday- land around 4pm. Take ME to all star sports. Grab quick Service for dinner, end day.

Sat- Go to DTD early afternoon, walk around. Head to boardwalk inn to walk around (always wanted to visit it). go to the clambake at beach club for dinner. end day.

Sun- Check out of ASsp and get mears taxi to renaissance hotel at seaworld.
Check in as early as possible, head over to Seaworld for the day and night (also have free all day dining there). Late night

Monday- Sleep in, walk around resort (if its warm take advantage of their hotel splash pad). Get to Seaworld in afternoon. Dine with shamu dinner and then end day.

Tuesday- Check out of Ren. and take mears taxi to Wilderness Lodge and check in. Walk around WL then hit Epcot by 1pm hopefully. Dinner at Garden Grill. Stay for illuminations. End day

Wednesday- ohana for b-fast, MK all day, Chef mickey for dinner. watch fireworks somewhere at CR. end day

Thurs- Sleep in. walk around resort. Visit monorail resorts by 2pm. ohana for dinner 5pm, MVMCP until as late as we can handle. end day

Frid- Free day. Do laundry, swim if warm enough, when it gets dark go to fort wilderness and do the campfire sing a long and movie outdoors. maybe check out the lights at fort W. end day

Sat- sleep in and have lunch at whispering canyon at 1130. head to holly wood studios until close to see osborne lights. end day

Sun- Tusker house at 930am and stay at AK all day. Head back to resort and get a good nights sleep.

Monday- MK. BBB at 930, CRT 1030, MK all day until close.

Tuesday- Check out and head home. :sad2:

Any suggestions?

Just my .02. But this is how I would do it. But it's YOUR vacay.

The wens where you have Ohana for breakfast and chef mickeys for dinner is IMO too much buffet for one day. For me that would feel like I've spend more buffet time than park time. You already have O'hana for dinner later. Cancel one and make a QS in the patk. You can take the 2 hours at least time saving for downtime or park time.

Next day you have ohana at 5pm. Then holidayve party. Ohana's ALWAYS run late. You wont be at the party until after 7 pm !!!! IMO a waste of a party ticket. You can also enter at 4pm. I would on this day do OHana's for a late breakfast. Then Monorail tours etc. back to WL to chill ( do laundry) and head to MK just before 4pm

This saves up laundry on other day.

One more tip. Add a park ivcket for when you head over to beach club for dinner. Hou can enter Epcot right there. Walk around the countries and get a fp for the frozen ride and walk to the front. I would also rather take the monorail back iso if bus for that experience. Monorail to MK then boat to WL.

You guys are at WL. Soo close to MK and monorail. This you can easliy more "action" in and still have loads of down time.

Sorry you are at ASM at this point. Try and get package tickets early. You guys seem like late sleepers. We are too! We usually hit parks from 3pm till close. Freez up morning and gives resort time. Just plan ADRs as such. But the biggest time waste is being in a park, leaving for an ADR and coming bad back.

Sorry for multiple posts. In train and connex bad

One last comment. Why WDW, Seaworld, Wdw?? Because of DME transfers? I would look into maybe getting a rental for at least the Seaworld part. Takes the cab/uber costs and see what a small size rental would be. Alamo is on site ( 2 locations) one right near boardwalk at the dolfin. Also with the rental you can do Disney Springs, boardwalk and maybe Animal Kingdom Lodge. Worth a visit. Of couse you can do all this with Disney buses. But you have a concrete plan and many are non resort to park trips where a car saves tons of time. I would check into it.

Darn!!!! LOL! thanks for pointing that out.... it was on the theme parks main page.... but you have to be careful clicking a thread that is promoted at the bottom.. those can be old!!! I wish she could take my advice!!! lol...
curious how their trip was etc. I was thinking is strange about Seaworld , I thought they didnt have some of those attractions anymore.

responding kept me busy on my Long Train commute

Yes we did! We are doing something similar this time where we booked our vacation for AKL dec1-7 and then because of airfare, and me trying to get away with an extra couple of days, we are doing ASMu from Nov 29-30 beforehand. Our dining and tickets don't start until Dec1 but we added another day and going to pick them up on Nov 29 to use. Hope it works again!

Glad to see it worked out well for you!

Personally, I would not be able to stand that much downtime at Disney. Our next trip is 7 days in Orlando, and we will be in the park all 7 days. We never go back to the hotel for a break in the afternoon either. Seems like a waste paying so much for the hotel, but it is what it is.

This post is old. I brought it back up so sorry to you and others who are investing so much time giving advice about it....my bad! But....ohana and chef mickey did not end up being that bad since ohana was family style and not buffet and our daughter loved Stitch so we had to make the breakfast.
you are right, going to Ohana and then MVMCP was a waste. Now we know we have to get to the parks for 4pm!

wdw-seaworld-wdw because of airfare. We found it cheaper to fly and stay at a value before Seaworld. Prices for airfare were too expensive a couple days later and it would've been a waste to go to Seaworld for so many days but you are right, wdw-seaworld-wdw really didn't make sense but it worked out and wasn't an issue.

Once we were there we ended up tweaking it and stayed in parks longer and didn't take as many breaks. Biggest thing was that visiting the other resorts to look at their christmas decorations really doesn't take a whole half day lol. It takes about 5 minutes!

He told me it would be too much downtime and he and everyone else was right. But we did take a little since our dd needed it.

Hahah. No problem. I even had a response typed out and luckily realized it was old before I submitted it. Then, the next day, I did the same thing again.

I got to Osborne lights. :).

Osborne lights is what tipped me off too! lol

Just a suggestion, in case you ever do something like wdw-seaworld-wdw again...they Hyatt at MCO is wonderful and very reasonably priced. The pool there is nice and you can watch the planes take off as you swim and relax. If we find we have to arrive late or take a super early flight home we usually add a room at the Hyatt, cant beat being right there and relaxing. Lots of places to explore in the airport too.

Ugh. Can't we punish people who start up old threads like this? Like force them to eat at San Angels or rope drop the Circle of Life trash movie at Epcot? So annoying

It took you that long? I was tipped off by this huge red flag:
Well, now that we are 6 days out
(if its warm take advantage of their hotel splash pad)

Current weather....
