Does this sound like a migraine aura?

Yes, that sounds just like mine. I don't always get head pain with migraine with aura (I do get very bad headaches that are not migraines though, at other times). With my migraines with aura, I almost always have some mental "fogginess" afterwards, and often nausea.

It's strange seeing this thread because I had one the other day and it is still on my mind. It was especially bad because I was at work. I was supposed to be looking at the computer, papers and files and there were sections that I simply could not see. I could look at a page and I knew writing was right in front of me, but it was too "swirly" to see anything. I ended up walking around for a while, chatted w/some coworkers about it, I was like I swear I am not drunk lol. After about 20 minutes, my vision returned to normal. It is like whatever it was just made its way around and then left. I did have a headache afterwards, not a really bad one though, and a headache the following morning. They never really got bad though.

I have had this happen off and on for about 2 years, and it freaks me out every time it happens. Before yesterday, it had been a couple months. I see the flashy lights, zigzags etc... I would kinda describe it as a kaleidoscope at times.

I've had the same thing. I called my eye dr and he saw me within an hour and said it was an occular migraine. I've had it a few more times, sometimes followed by a regular migraine, sometimes not.

I have them! It starts with a squiggle in one of my eyes and then it gradually takes over my whole eye. It lasts for like 20 minutes. If I take advil right when the squiggle starts then I don't get the headache. If I don't the it's the worst headache in the world. I've had it when I'm driving before and it's hard to see! My mother gets them too.
First one I got I was in my twenties. I'm in my forties now.

Mine start on my left side of my field of vision, grow larger to cover the entire field of vision and then disappear about 20 minutes later. Never get any headache with them. First time it happened, I was talking to a guy where I worked about it the next day and he suffered from severe migraines. He told me it was a migraine aura and described exactly what I was seeing. At first I only had about three or four a year, now I get them maybe every other week or so. But they still do the same thing and last the same amount of time. Had one at WDW two weeks ago as I was getting off the bus at our resort after leaving Epcot. When I get them, I just want to sit in the dark with my eyes closed for twenty minutes. I got one in my sleep once. That was weird.
