All my nights I need for a standard view 2bdroom are available as of now at least... Sunday-Fri.. EXCEPT TUESDAY!! I have enough points to get a preferred view room for that night which is available.

Can I agree to use my points for a preferred room and if the other people are willing to get upgraded to a preferred view instead of standard view for the 1 night would DVC allow that?? I mean if it was on Thursday night, out last night I would deal with it.. but Tuesday will be a pain to unpack, pack... ect...

Nah, it probably would not happen. You might want to go ahead and waitlist that one night and see if you get it.

But, unless you are either eleven (home resort) or seven months (non-home resort) out from the start of the trip starting on Wednesday, you could only book Sun and Mon and would have to wait until you are 7/11 months out from Wednesday. Unless Tuesday comes through. You'd have to book two separate trips.

It would have to be a member with a one night reservation in the exact same room you have already booked. The odds of that happening are slim.

I think the OP was asking if DVC would ask the member to switch rooms with you...giving the other guests an upgrade and the OP the standard view that they have reserved for the rest of the week.

Not only will DVC not facilitate this for you, the odds are unlikely that it would work out. You would need to find someone with a one-night reservation, which could be tricky.

OP, my advice would be to book what you can (including the one night in preferred view if you want) and waitlist the night you don't have. I think you have a good shot of getting it since you are only looking for the one night.

This is the point where you need to decide how painful you'd find it to have to move multiple times during your stay. That would drive the decision to take a chance on a waitlist for that Tuesday night, or just go ahead and find another place/room/view to book. Which do you want more? Do you want to stay in that specific room for as many nights as possible, or do you want to avoid moving?

We always make the assumption that a waitlist won't come through, and book something we can live with. For us, moving once during a trip isn't a big deal. Moving twice in two days for a seven-night stay? Yeah, that would probably be too much.

As to the original question, the chances of getting any room when you check in other than the one you booked are negligable.

if your booking 11 months out home resort and tuesday's not open then you can only book Sun and Mon now. Also you can't book Sun Mon standard then Tues PV and then wed, thurs standard. Now if your booking 7 months out you can.
