Does this happen often when trading

Hi! I kind of new. In VMK this has happened to me twice in the past 2 days.
Another player initiates a trade for a crown or cowboy gear. It is always something that they are wearing.

They have put nothing in the trade window. I put some items in the window. They say they are fine with the trade. They then state they need to take off the item in order to trade it. (I can understand that.) So, I say let's restart trading after you take off the item.

At that point they try to then get me to put my items through to them without the item I am to receive in the trade window. LOL. And this is a trade they initiated. I do my best to politely say something to the effect of: Do you really think I am that stupid?

Again, am I just noticing this because I have only been playings regularly for a month or so? Also, if this is something I should report, how would i do that?

This is called a scam, and ty to VMK for the picture trade windows. I play another game and on the second trade window it only says words. Though I do not play it anymore I dont know if it has changed but bc picture trade windows are made possible in VMK, I am truly grateful for them.

Well yeah, that's definitely a scam attempt and it's good that you were smart about it. If you click on the player, there is a report button that you can click to tell VMK about what's going on, but they tend to ignore it for the most part. There really isn't much else you can do, and it's unfortunate.

In my OTHER game, this is when the person puts something in that is very valuable for a thing that is of medium - value. When trading the person is very excited. So he clicks accept. At that split second, the person with the valuable item takes it off and bc the victim is overexcited about the trade, he quickly clicks accept which means the person gets something for free.
