Does the private VIP tours send the wrong message to kids?

We want to teach them manners and how to queue for rides. If they don't want to queue, then wake up early and be at the park early. With the VIP tours, it teaches them that you can throw money to a problem to make it go away.

While that may be the "wrong message", it is unfortunately the truth about how the world really works.

That can be carried over to lots things.
Don't go to a Character meal to see princess, stand in line for an hour.
Don't use a Minnie Van, spent two hours and use buses to get to water park.
Don't get a dessert party, stand for an hour to see fireworks.

In fact, don't go to disney to produce family memories,just run around chasing mice in your local park.

Yeah. Taking my kids to Disney today. My 3 year old's 5th trip there, I think (I've honestly lost count). That's not at all how life is for most people, but I'm still going to enjoy it. I've worked hard for the money, my kids know it, and I want to enjoy it.

Haha. Then again, a fool and his money are soon parted. You could be in for long term trouble with that sort of cash burning.

Whenever my parents would pay for me to have a special, amazing experience that many could not afford, they made sure I understood that it cost a lot of money and hard work on my parents part. They viewed it as a way to encourage me to work harder (specifically in school). If we had done one of these tours while I was a child, they would convey a message along the lines of, "Look at what amazing things can happen when you work hard and save up." That was always my parents focus. Not sure how effective it was though

The elitism i have trouble explaining to my kids is why we can go in the precheck line at the airport while others do not. The real reason is my credit card covered by $85 fee, but it's tough to tell her that everyone else possibly can't afford it (even though many chose not to pay it), and that's why they are stuck in the long line.

Just going can put your kids in another class. When we went this past May it was Gwen's 5th trip since she was 5. As near as we can tell only one of her teachers has been more than once. I take the girls and teach that we go every 2-3 years because hard work has its perks. It seems to have worked the 18 year old is going to KU this fall to study electrical engineering.

That's the American way lol... Seriously though, that's basically how it works with anything. If you throw enough money at it you can basically do whatever you want - crimes included unfortunately (not saying it's right; I definitely don't agree with it, but it is true )

You could swing this scenario in saying that if you make the right decisions and work hard enough etc. you may have the opportunity to have choices like a VIP tour and/or going to Disney in the first place etc.
