Somewhere in the back of my brain I remember that the boat ferry went to all the DTD resorts: PO-R, POFQ and OKW. With the addition of SSR does it now hit all 4 resorts? Or, am I having a brain cloud?

Thanks!

Edited my dyslexic subject ;).

It did in 2002 when we were on the ferry last (of course SSR wasn't open then though).

The DVC Ferry stops at SSR, DtD Marketplace (near Capt. Jack's), Westside/PI and OKW. There is a seperate ferry from POFQ/POR to DtD & Westside. And there is another Ferry that runs only between Marketplace and Westside.

Yes, and they call the one that goes to SSR and OKW "The Disney Vacation Club Ferry", in blue and yellow. I think it's pretty smart on their part-free advertising.

Thanks! So, to get to POFQ I would have to take the boat to DTD and then back to POFQ. I think I would rather drive :rotfl2:.

If you specifically wanted to go from OKW to POFQ, you may be able to request it so the driver can drop you off. I don't know for sure if they will, but why not ask when you check in at the resort, and make your plans from there. Since the boat skippers are in radio contact, they may be able to make those type of arrangements.

This is exactly what happened several years ago when we rode the ferry. Our driver called out and asked if anyone was going to POFQ----noone was---so he kept driving. But because of this, I just assumed they stopped there automatically.

the OKW boat has NEVER stopped at PO - they ask that to tell people to get in the other boat.

Several people have ridden the OKW boat only to ask where is PO.....

You can actually walk there.

there is a path though the woods - I haven't gone that way.

I have however walked to the end of the road and since POFQ is the next resort - it is an easy walk.

some others will stay that the traffic makes this impossible - don't believe it - it is a very easy walk. You have the grass to walk through you don't need to be in the street.

to cross the street at OKW there is a crosswalk - I don't trust it - I just go to the traffic light.

15 minutes from building 18.

In my one isolated situation the boat was already in movement, passing POFQ when the driver asked. I believe had anyone stated they were wanting to go there that he would have stopped. I'm assuming he was just being a nice guy and that this is not normal practice. This was in 2002.

since POFQ is on the other side of OKW - I think he was lost.....

did he turn around and go back to OKW - or did he kept going to POR then turn around?

Spiceycat,
Many years ago, the OKW boat would stop at PO and the LBV golf club & Season's restaurant at the request of members going FROM OKW to either of those locations, which is why I suggested asking at check-in or the boat dock. They may or may not still offer that option since the boats are no longer part of the OKW recreation budget, but are paid for by DtD merchants.

I understood MiaSRN62's post to indicate that she was boarding at OKW and NOT DtD when the skipper asked if anyone was going to PO.

This is correct Chuck. Maybe he was lost though ? He was giving a talking tour almost. He was pointing all kinds of things out and people were asking him questions etc. Who knows ? I totally understand the way it's supposed to be now. Thanks for clearing this up for me.

DTD does not paid for the DVC boats -you do. transportation costs this includes boats andd buses.

DTD does paid for the PO boats - it has never paid for the DVC boats.

I have been a member since 93 - all the times I have been on this boat - they have always send people wanting to go to PO to the PO boat.

DTD would never but the pillows on the boat - but DVC listen to its member and if they want pillow - they got pillow!!! which I appreciate!

Spicey, I have been a member since 1992. How long has it been since you've been to OKW. The boats are no longer the comfy, cushy boats you remember. Yes, I have been on the boats when they stopped at PO or Lake Buena Vista (golf club) at a members request.

The "new" boats are not nearly as comfortable as the originals and are partly subsidized by DtD merchants now. They are now operated by the Sassagoula River thing that operates the PO boats, not by OKW Recreation Dept. like they used to be.

And I noticed in January that they're very "tippy" too-they looked like they were really listing to one side in the water. Kind of made me a little scared to get on. I really hope they've corrected that.

The old pontoon boats were replaced last year by the new DVC Ferry boats as seen here.

They weren't any better in February! The list on one of the boats was quite alarming!!! :scared1: I was sitting on one of the benches that runs down the middle and I had to brace my legs most of the way - very relaxing!! :teeth:
