Does the magic return when you have kids?

"Ask not what a CM can do for you, ask what you have done to show your appreciation for what they do without being asked." - Zurg

I grew up going on Florida vacations, and to WDW fairly often, beginning in about 1976. When I got married in 1987, I hadn't been to WDW in about 4 or 5 years. My husband and I went to Florida and Disney on our honeymoon. The magic was new again because he hadn't been before and so it was as if it was new to me also. We went a couple of times before we had children, and yes, it wasn't as "special". But then in 1996 we brought our daughters, and it was extraordinary. The joy that your children feel is contagious! We have gone as a family at least 5 times and even though the girls are getting a bit older (9 and 11), we all still love it and it hasn't gotten old.

What a coincidence Dream, I will be at WDW in early December also....:Pinkbounc

Dream I would love a chance to meet you......:bounce:

Dude, the magic is in you and that's where you'll find it. I'm 44 and WDW is more magical for me than it is for my children. I was raised on Disney and I've been going to WDW since it opened. I'm happy to report that every, EVERY time I go I turn into a six-year-old and the characters are real and there's magic everywhere.

The bottom line is that it all depends on your attitude. Whatever you look for, that's what you're going to find. If you go with a negative attitude, you're going to notice every negative experience and that's what you're going to remember. If you go looking for magic, you'll find it everywhere you turn and your memories will be of fun cast members, real characters and Disney magic. :)

I don't think the magic ever leaves, it justs ebbs and flows. I went twice when I was a kid and loved it, but the second time was just like a vacation as the first poster said. We went to Disney for 2 days on our honeymoon and the magic was strong then cause my DH had never been before so I was seeing it for the first time through his eyes. Then I went once without him, but with my parents and aunt and uncle from overseas. My aunt and uncle had not been before and it was fun showing them everything. Then we didn't go again until my DS was 3 1/2 and then the magic came back to stay. We all cried (me, DH, DM, DF) when he saw the castle for the first time. It was awesome. We have been back twice since and the magic was just as strong! I'm not sure once you have kids that it will ever go away again. My hubby is now feeling the magic even more than ever especially after last August's 13 day visit (our first on site visit as passholders). As I said it ebbs and flows in my opinion.
