does the magic disappear?

do you think there is a certain age where the disney magic disappears? or is it a case of once your hooked your hooked for life! also anyone know the age of the oldest person to of visited disney? just curious.

Gosh, I hope it doesn't go away. I think the magic of Disney is that no matter how old you are, you can be a kid there. I am curious too to see who is the oldest person to visit WDW. I see lots of older people walking around with their families and enjoying the parks.

I'm hooked for life. When I did my CP, I worked with the characters so I got to see a lot of magic behind the scenes. Even though I knew the in's and out's of things, when I would watch Cinderella's Surprise Celebration (which was the Castle show at the time of my CPs), Mickey was truly Mickey and he amazed me every time.

I think the magic will only disappear if you let it. Don't let it and you won't have to worry!

I think those that "Get it" will always get it and the magic will alwys be there for us, and those that don't never will. I go into some part of WDW every week, whether it's a Park for a ride, a restaurant or just to DTD to walk around; and the magic and the CM's never fail to thrill me, and almost everytime I say "I love this place". But before Christmas DW and I were in MK to see the icing of the Castle for about the tenth time, when a family of four behind us was wondering what everyone was waiting for. They had a youg girl of about 11 or 12 and a boy of 8ish. So, I was explaining to the Mom and the young girl that the Fairy Godmother and Cinderella were about to come out and how the icicles were going to appear. I was very excited, but the little girl looked at Mom and said "let's get out of here, that's so childish" Mom said probably some kids like it. Well I couldn't help but to say, "Well, I'm no kid, and I live just down the road and I've seen this ten times, but I'm amazed every single time" They just walked away and all I could think was "How sad, at that age..."

I agree that those who "get it" will have it for life. I'm almost 40 and can't see the magic ever fading. Many people go and enjoy it because of their kids, but stop when the kids grow up... IMO they never truly "got it" to begin with. I grew up in a household where my mother "got it" but my dad didn't... he hasn't stepped foot in a Disney park since I was a teenager... his loss is my feeling. He won't even go "for the grandkids" now... which is a big bummer, but my mom has gone with us and truly enjoys it. She wants to go back, and is planning to go with us on one of our upcoming trips.

I first experienced WDW on my honeymoon when I was 22 and was definitely hooked. My kids have been 7 and 6 times and they still just love it. When we go this Christmas they will be 21 and 15 and they are almost excited as I am to go. I agree that some people "get it" and some people don't. I am so glad I got it.

I loved your reply. It is so true about some people getting and others not. I feel really sad for the people that just don't get the "magic". I was in WDW in November and they lit the castle with the lights. I got goosebumps and was awed by how beautiful the castle looked. I have been to disney 12 times and I have seen the castle many times and it still took my breath away. I am glad you share the same magic!

I agree! Some people get it and some don't.

When I tell people that I am going back to Disney again this year, they can't understand why. They ask "Haven't you done everything there is to do?" My answer is "No" But even if I had done it all, I would still go back and do it all over again.

If I lived in FL, I would probably go to WDW everyday!!!

My grandma is 79 years young and loves WDW as much as my 6, 3, and 1 year olds. Ok, we ALL love Disney! Its a toss up as to who likes it more.

So I think that as long as you "believe" in the magic and allow it to happen, it will always exist. That is true of so many things. We just need to let it happen.

I agree that some get it and some do not. I was 22 my first trip and was hooked. Took DH (my then fiance) a year and a half before we got married and he immediately decided that we had to honeymoon there.

Took DS for the first time when he was 8. He is 12 now and at least for now, he loves it as much as I do. He talks about proposing to his future wife in front of the Castle!

I am hoping that he will always 'get it'. He worries that some of his friends (those that don't get it) may tease him because he loves it so much, but that doesn't stop him from wanting to go back

I can tell you that planning and thinking and planning for Disney has taken my mind off very hard times in my life.....if that isn't magic, I don't know what is At least for me that is...

I still remember the look on DW's face (it was her first time) when we hit Main Street the first time----I'll never forget it, and that's magic enough for me...and when DS gets there---look out..

I agree it is just a different type of magic. To me it's even better as you get older. Being able to see my children get excited about seeing Stitch or something for the first time, makes the trips worth every penny of the trip.

Your right, there is just something about planning a Disney trip that makes it easier to get through hard times. There is something about the air at WDW where all your cares just go away. Somehow while planning a trip, I get a little bit of that magic. There have been point this last year where my DH thought about cancelling our upcoming trip. I told him that he better not, b/c that has what has gotten me through hard times this last year.

My dad took me to DL when he was 52, 2 years after it opened. He and my mom visited us in CA many times in their 60-70's and took the bus to DL by themselves. Dad went with us to WDW at 96, so many great memories! Know that I fell in love with DL @ age 2, and again at WDW on my honeymoon in 1975, and every trip since. No dulling of the magic for us!

Totally agree with all the pp's that you either "get it" or you don't. My philosophy on people are there are Disney people and there are Non-Disney people. Everyone falls in to one or the other.

I agree with people saying if you don't get it you never will. Some people say they enjoy it because of their kids, etc. Once their children grow up they'll just lose interest. While I agree that Disney is all about the kids, I feel it is about the "kid" in all of us. Not how old you are. While going with my DD is amazing and let's me see things for the 1st time again, DW and I went before we had a child, and will go when she is grown up. That is why we bought into the DVC. We can't imagine NOT going.

Disney to me is a state of mind, not just a place. Once you drive through that gate, the outside world ceases to exist, and we are transformed into children again.

My friends wife put it perfectly: "Disney is a happy place and I like to be happy!" Can't argue with that.

I hope the magic never goes away!! I'm 53 and my DH is 62........we have AP's and try to sneak over to WDW as much as possible as we only live 1 1/2 hrs away from the Mouse House!! I've also gotten the Disney bug to bite a few co-workers and we're planning a girl's day out the day after tomorrow to the MK. We're so excited............I've brought my lanyard with all my pins on it to work to get everyone in the mood along with all my pics from the trip we took 2 weeks ago. We're hoping to arrive in time for rope drop on Saturday so watch out if anyone's on the "Greenway" early Saturday morning.............. You'll see my "Mickey Mom's Club" magnet on the back of my car as the Disneymobile heads to the MK!

It never disappears, but it certainly changes a few times as your life does.

My most recent trip in March was actually my first "disappointing" Disney visit. It was the first time I noticed Disney being "cheap" and cutting corners on things that they normally do better than anyone.

I'm still going back though. :-D

In my case, I didn't have the magic on my first few visits, however, I started 'getting it' in 1999 and really 'got it' in 2003. And I've enjoyed WDW ever since.

I get the 'magic'! So I started bringing my mom, grandma to my DD8! She loves the magic with us. She originally brought me when I was 5 but all I remember was space mountain Loved it and hated it! I was forced on the ride So glad they made me do it so I had at least one memory. My mom is a shoe in everytime we go and we love the company. I don't think I'll ever lose the feeling when I walk into MK and see the castle, true MAGIC

I was hooked after my first trip and I am 39 now. My mom is 60 and loves it as much as I do!
