I am in the process of buying myself a lightweight scooter to use locally, but hubby thinks I should bring it to the US instead of paying over $200 to hire one. I'm talking about something in the size/power range of the Victory Go Go Traveller Elite (as that is the nearest equivalent to what I'm looking to get).
We have made enquiries of Virgin Atlantic, who are sufficiently vague enough to not actually know whether the two I've short-listed are permitted (due to the battery size/power) and then it's my decision whether I want to risk being turned away at the gate on the day.
However, it occurred to me that I don't think the DME will accept mobility scooters, even if they're collapsable/break-down-able.
Has any one actually been allowed to take one on board? If not, then that is a 'double whammy' and means I'll just go ahead and hire one and not have the stress about having to get it and our luggage to the airport, onto the plane, off the plane, through Immigration at MCO and then to the hotel. And then, of course, doing it all in reverse on our way back.
