Does the Dis need a new forum for Blogs & Cliques?

What I find amusing about this is everyone always complains about how rude and insensitive posters are on the DIS and how they need to be more tolerant. So now we're going to complain about the threads where people get along and enjoy each other's company?

And again, the posters it seems to bother the most are those that don't post frequently and just lurk.

I don't see it as complaining about the threads themselves. Just seems like a nice idea to find clique threads their own "home". Why are some folks afraid of this idea? Cliquers want us to read up to page 4, but they refuse to even think about clicking their mouse over to another board. Also, those who don't post frequently, usually just have time to READ. Makes it easier to read when all the fluff has its own place. Why did Disboards feel the need to create a game forum? :confused3 Probably for the same reason people are suggesting a clique/blog forum.

I guess some of us do not notice such threads clogging the board.

Why not a separate board for school issues, food topics, gift giving?

It just seems nonsensical to keep requesting things be filtered to our liking. It comes up every now and again and there is a reason the webmasters haven't considered it.

Even the game board---took a few years. It's not like one day, someone suggested it and *poof*, there was a game sub-forum.

And I'm not a cliquer--just for the record.;)

I know one forum that would be valuable was a hurricane/disaster forum.

Katrina has been up since 2005 and after 4 years, it is being taken down (within the past 2-3 weeks). Despite several requests, it was stated that there are no plans to create an alternative forum to discuss disasters. The board was created as there were an overwhelming number of threads relating to Katrina. It made it easier for folks to find what they needed.

There's a subforum for birthday wishes and congratulations. If it were retitled, that subforum could also be used for blogs and clique threads.

Whether the "buddy groups" had their own sub forum or stayed on the CB, doesn't make a difference to me. I don't mind scrolling over them. If the buddy groups moved to their own sub forum, the CB would just be cleaned up a little. Either way, no big deal to me.;)
