Does Target price-match?

Yes, but you have to do it at customer service, it can not be done at the registers.

I was there yesterday and, at the Customer Service counter, a sign states that they only match advertised prices.

Our next trip in 10 months is a secret too! They will be 3 and 5, and when we get to the airport we will tell them we are there to ride a plane (they ask to fly all the time...so I don't think they'll put two and two together). If they figure it out when we get on Magic Express then so be it, otherwise we'll tell them when we see that most wonderful sign

I just go to Customer Service with the item I want the price match on as well as the ad I'm asking for the price match from and have the item rung up there. It just cuts out a step.

But my experience with price matching at Target is not as lenient as it would be from Walmart.

Walgreen's had Coke products on sale a few weeks ago -- the ad read 4 12-packs for $10. The Target sales associate at customer service refused to honor the price for me. I had 4 12-packs of Coke Zero and in my mind, I should have been charged $2.50 each, but I was told they would only honor ads that stated one item (at a time). So if the ad had read Coke 12-packs for $2.50, they would honor it, but not 4 12-packs for $10. Huh? I'm no idiot, but I don't see the logic on that. So I just left the 4 12-packs there and drove the half mile to Walgreens and got a rain check because I knew they were out of Coke products already.

I was able to price match Halloween Candy and a Tinkerbell DVD previous to the denial of the Coke price match.

So the bottom line is -- Target says they will price match -- but only if it's under their rules -- whatever those may be. I would imagine each store is different.

And I'm not trying to start a Walmart vs. Target debate here. Just sharing my own experience with Target and price matching.

Well on BF I had a video game that BB had in there paper. I asked if they price matched and this is what the lady said " if its not a door buster, or if its not in a special sale, or if its not like a 2 or 3 day sale, or if its not a special promotion" So in other words I said...You DON'T price match, This was the dept manager for electronic too that said this. So I went to Walmart...no problem...they were happy to price match.

I also tried to price match an item on BF but was told that they wouldn't PM because the page had red on it and the manager said that meant it was a doorbuster. I emailed them and was referred to their website where I found this list of exclusions:

Basically, there is a better chance that they WON't match than that they will.

After seeing in the Walmart ad this morning that they had the Crayola Crayon Maker for $20 this week, I decided to just go to Target to see if I could get one there and have them PM since I had other things to get from there and feeling like my chances were better on getting my hands on one there since it's not an advertised sale there. I got the last one on the shelf, paid for my things at the register, and then went to customer service. I told the girl there that I wanted to price match the crayon maker, handed her the walmart ad and my receipt and she did with no questions asked! She did look at the date on the sales paper though to make sure it was a current one.

I went to Walmart after that to get groceries and out of curiosity found the spot where the crayon makers are normally sitting and they were ALL out of them! So, I'm glad I went to Target!

they say they do but.........ine has been a PITA about it.

I asked them to price match when Walgreens had peanut butter 3/$5. Then they said they couldn't price match because the Walgreen's ad didn't say how much one would cost.



My Target will try to argue about anything NOT to price match. I really don't know why. They have been this way about many things.

My grocery store ad said "Skippy Peanut Butter" 16.3 oz $1.43 assorted varieties -- the picture was large and showed creamy, chunky, extra chunk, and reduced fat.

Target wouldn't price match because they said it didn't specify in writing which variety. Eventhough the picture clearly showed that creamy was an option, they said no.

I think it was right after that when I started going to Walmart. After shopping at Target 100% of the time for over 10 years, I decided to give Walmart a try. It's closer to my house, and eventhough I don't like Walmart's merchandise as well, they sure have been a lot nicer.

I had an ad for another retailer in my hand and asked if they price matched and they said no they don't anymore. They did years ago but they've gotten to be real PITA's about it. It really stinks since I am a pretty loyal Target customer. I would rather spend my money with them then a lot of other stores. That's what made me mad about the price matching stuff. I absolutely avoid the store I was trying to price match at Target and ended up having to go there anyhow. Grrr...
