Does stateroom matter?

I'll be taking the cruise next year. I need to book by Monday. I was told not to pay too much for the room, but I want a window. Any comments about categories 6, 7 or 8? I'll be with my 21 year old daughter. I've never been on a cruise before.:earsgirl:
Thanks

If all you care about is having the window then you could go category 8 or even category 9 to save more money. There is not that much difference with the rooms besides what deck they are on. When we sailed we had a category 9 on deck 2 and it had the port hole window and it was fine.

I've also had a catagory 9 on Deck 2 and loved it. We spend NO time in the room anyway, except to sleep, so we've done an inside room since. ( I love pitch dark to sleep so it is perfect for me!) I'd rather spend the money on the SPA!!! :teeth:

Wife and I got a Cat 6 cabin on our honeymoon and are doing it again this June (ironically, we got assigned the EXACT SAME CABIN). We had a private verandah and it was worth the money. Sat on the balcony as we left port; breeze was magnificent and the view was a memory unto itself.

if all you care about is having a window view, opt for the cat. 9 - try to get an aft stateroom, preferably starboard....you cant go wrong

I've been told ... there are no bad staterooms, some are just better than others!

I hope that's true because I booked the least expensive I could find. That allows for more Mickey toys to be purchased!

Doing research so we can hopefully go on DCl soon. I keep reading about this "aft stateroom" what is an aft? Also, Alex you recommand asking for a "starboard" what is that? And I was wondering, when it comes time to book, is there a way to see what's under and above your room, to see if your room is not located well? Like a loud dance club, etc. I have sooo many questions, but I'll start with these. :)

Hi, Here are some answers for you. Aft means the rear or back of the ship. Starboard means on the right side (facing front of ship). Port means the left side. Forward means the front of the ship and Midship is self explanatory I think. The Midship elevators are more crowded, then the forward and the Aft tend to be less traveled. We took the stairs a lot (especially down) to get more exercise, they are carpeted with landings and very nice (not some dark stairwell you may be thinking of).

There are Deck Plan right on this website to see what is on each deck above and below each cabin. I also got one in a book from AAA travel.

We like to answer questions here so feel free to ask!

I've been sailing for many years (over 30 and I'm in my 40's).

I was always taught you but the cheapest room on the best ship.

DCL IS the best ship.

I book Cat 9 rooms. (I, too, insist on a porthole as my one splurge).

We have two rooms that combined cost $1,000 less than one suite.

My two cents.

We're booked for the California Mexican cruise July 30th 2005. We're a cat 9 in stateroom 2126 and our friends have 2112 and 2034. For those of you that have been on the ships, I'd LOVE your honest opinion of these rooms. Right now our TA is going to try to get us more midship....whatever advice y'all have would be appreciate...we've never cruised Disney and we're VERY excited!

We stayed in room 2618 which is almost opposite room 2112 and it was great! Close to the elevator and I can honestly say you wouldn't even know you were near an elevator. It was very quiet. We would definitely stay on deck 2 again. I looked at the deck plans to see where room 2034 was and I bet that room is perfectly fine also. I think you will be very happy with deck 2. I hope my opinion helps you.
Enjoy your cruise.

Thank you for your input! It does help. Our TA was able to move us to 2608, 2610 and 2612 and those look great to us!

My daughter and I will be in rm 2070 and it looks good. First cruise, anyone know this room?:Pinkbounc
