Does Splash do a refurb every year?

Toying around with the idea of a mid-February trip, but Splash is our favorite attraction and with it's days limited I'd like to go when it's open.

So it is every January or is it more of an every other year schedule? Secondarily, do you think they will take it down for refurb even though it will be taken down entirely eventually for the reskin?

Thanks guys! :)

My guess? If they take it down in January that will be when it is down for the much overdue re-themeing.

I think it goes down for good in January.

Typically it has to be serviced during that time frame. If you are keen on riding Splash, be sure to visit during another time of the year.

Have they ever announced a splash refurb later than October for January? Curious when I'll know for sure....

CMs were joking when I was there last week about the line building and everyone having to ride it one last time and saying it probably won't even close to be rethemed for at least 2 years. At this point in time it may never be rethemed and they will just move on from the thoughts or only retheme Disneyland.

I agree we have some time until it goes down for good, but I'm curious about its regular, seasonal refurb that happens many years!

Yes it goes down every year sometime in the colder months, January or February. But this year could be an exception based on its current popularity and the fact that it's getting a complete overall soon.

They already put in the HD screen in.. but I think Disney is pausing a lot of the major refurbs.. hopefully it will still be running they dont need less rides right now the lines for the big ones are long enough..

What HD screen? Sorry I've never heard of that before.

As noted, yes, Splash usually goes down every winter for a refurb. I assume Kali does too. Water and motion takes a toll on rides as we saw with the log sinking this Summer.

As for the change-over, I would bet it hasn't even been budgeted for yet. The original press release implies they may not be beyond concept drawings. "As part of the creative development process, conceptual design work is well underway and Imagineers will soon be able to conduct preliminary reviews and develop a timeline for when the transformation can start to take shape."

Plus, money is so tight, cast members are laid off, shows are closed, Disneyland is closed, Disneyland Paris is closing again, all the "in progress" projects like Ratatouille, Guardians, Tron and Epcot have had their completion dates postponed; and projects that had not started yet, like the Mary Poppins ride are "on hold" indefinitely. I don't see them moving forward on a newly announced project for a long time.
