Does Southwest offer proactive changes due to upcoming bad weather?

Flying to MCO from BWI on Friday morning and they're forecasting ice storms here. If I call Southwest and ask to take a flight Thursday night instead, is it safe to assume they'll make me pay for the difference in fare?

I know this seems like a "Duh" question but many, many years ago I did the same exact thing because of an upcoming snow storm and they didn't charge me any extra fare difference because they knew cancellations were imminent. But the travel world was a different place many, many years ago... :)

I'd call and ask but it takes forever to get connected to a customer service agent.

The answer is no one really knows right now unless the website is allowing you to change without paying the fare difference.

They list travel advisories on their website. Now I see Wednesday and Thursday for the midwest and great lakes region, says those travelers can rebook without paying anything. Goes as far east as Pittsburgh for now. You could call or see if it changes tomorrow to include BWI.

Ahh thanks, that's very helpful to know.

Do you have the app? Often times where there is inclimate weather both the app and the website itself will send up a red banner that will tell you that there's a weather advisory and that you may change your flight with no fee. Hope this helps!

I am watching with you. We fly Saturday stopping in Austin, So far Austin is not on the list but I see Dallas and other places in Texas are for other days. Hoping to get to MCO on time

I just did this. Was supposed to fly out of Louisville Thursday morning en route to Tampa. Found the weather advisory on the website and now flying out Wednesday evening. VERY simple!
